Not at that price, and especially not without making changes to the goaltending

ANA’s needs are top 6 RW and top pair RD

Holtz’s shine is fading, his 34 points in 110 games isn’t promising to fill the top 6 RW hole. Would ANA take a shot on him? Probably. But for Zegras? Not even close, especially since that just opens a new hole at top 6 LW

Casey at 5’10” isn’t a fit for ANA (esp with Verbeek as GM). We already have similarly sized Zellweger at LD. It would cement 2 pairs as lacking a solid size D pair, which is why Verbeek was willing to move Drysdale. He also doesn’t project top pair, and would be behind Luneau in terms of RHD prospects

All in all, we’d totally be interested in only Holtz, but he’s is not in the ballpark of Zegras for a trade return

Holtz is weaker than Zegras off the puck, and doesn't put up the offense to justify that.

Casey is a good prospect but we have more than enough undersized puck moving D.

Pat is looking for a top 6 RW and a top 4 RHD, neither of these players reliably project to be those at this point.

One does not acquire a Zegras with pieces one can easily afford to loose.

The is the definition of poor asset management....we go in with barely better goaltending, and give up two of your best prospects/young players...

Holtz feels mighty underwhelming and Casey probably isn’t an upgrade over Luneau so I don’t see why Verbeek would think twice on this one

Here we go with the offseason other than over pay for every goalies and now its back to lets get Jacks USA teammates for no reason, good idea lets keep getting young for no reason. Dcore is still too inexperience and you brought back Miller why? you know there are better options right? You made the devils so much weaker and younger. Guess you love watching them get pushed around. Teddy over Duhaime and you didnt bother to keep dermy? tf is wrong with you SPEED ISNT EVERYTHING.

Here you go again fella guess you want to panic and sell both Hughes brothers for some grit again but we will never score again good idea but it’s not to sell Bratt for more toughness and don’t even mention the coach why do you live Travis Green so much guess you love him you knows have other options why are you panicking and desperate to get Blackwood back he is toast we can find better goalies guess you love watching devils getting scored on

If it feels underwhelming to you, imagine being a Devils fan…it’s infuriating.

The offensive talent is all there, which makes it so much harder. If he were just a straight bust, it would probably be easier on Devils fans. But he played 82 games...almost exclusively on 4th line….and every brilliant moment was followed by some stupid neutral zone turnover.

Wasn’t holding my breathe, to be honest. But say Verbeek say those two pieces (righty F, RD)….although Holtz is more of LW when playing offensive situations.

(But Casey>Luneau)

He did say he was looking for a top 6 RW and a top 4 RD but I’d imagine that RD would be someone to pair with Mintyukov so a more 2 way leaning defensive or defensive guy

I think Casey vs Luneau remains to be seen. Luneau looked very good in his minor appearance, and was slated for the WJC team until his knee infection sidelined him.

However, Zegras + Luneau is much better than Holtz + Casey, and we already have Zegras + Luneau

Luneau wasn’t part of it….was just Holtz, Casey for Zegras. It was more of impulse trade…don’t think NJD would be bidders on Z.

No one's going to be bidders on Z, he's not on the trading block and he just not named to team USA.

My point was, Casey isn't a sufficient upgrade on Luneau, a piece we already have and our GM is very high on, to downgrade from Zegras to Holtz. More of a "we have Seamus Casey at home" kind of thing.

He doesn’t even want grit. You had an ACGM bringing in McNabb, Howden, and Colton and he still complained about not enough grit.

He wants goons, scrubs.

More Bahl, Macdermid, and Brendan Smith. Just 1 more scrub who can’t play hockey is all we need
