lend TOR a hand

Created by: LuckyMoneyPuck
Team: 2024-25 Pittsburgh Penguins
Initial Creation Date: Apr. 28, 2024
Published: Apr. 28, 2024
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Poulin, Broz, Minten can all fight it out for that 3C spot.
the other goes to 4LW.

I would still like a better 3RW, but cap is tight and options are limited. I also don't want a long term deal. This team is changing with youth the year after.

JT contract is 1 year. TOR needs to dump him, the penguins aren't winning a cup anyway but maybe he's enough of a boost as a 2C and Malkin to the win to make the 2nd line work unlike this year.
This team might actually make the playoffs and we get some young asset back.

Leafs keep Tavares. He's not a pure cap dump.

I'm not splitting hairs over a 4th round pick that has less than a 10% chance to become even a 4th line role player at the NHL level.

Edited Apr. 28 at 5:08 p.m.. Reason: improved grammar
I cannot imagine John Tavares waiving his NMC to leave his childhood team to join the aging-out Penguins, never mind the idea that the Leafs would pay one of their rare first-round draft picks plus their highest pick from 2022 to let him do so.

look TOR fans want to get rid of him. If the front office wants to open up space to make a team capable of winning it's not coming cheap.
No one is agreeing to take that contract for nothing. Teams aren't just running around doing TOR favors clearing 11 mil in cap.
As for the hometown thing. I'm sure it's a real pleasant experience getting booed by the hometown fan base in the playoffs.

no thanks to Tavares, and no way Broz or Poulin should be our 3rd line center next year.

Broz is a good player. He'll compete for a spot this year.

As for JT, I get why, but it's a 1 year deal for assets for a team that has no legit chance of getting a cup anyway.

This is obviously a troll post but this gets your number blocked by the leafs and even if they were to accept the deal Tavares wouldnt

vast majority of TOR fans out here like, get Tavares out of here. But you think it's a troll post.

Honestly. you can't chase the guys off your team and then still think they have value can you?

Broz is a good player, I agree. I was at the playoff game in Wilkes Barre. I Just don't think he is good enough yet for 3rd line center. Needs some time.
