Matthews and Willy give you 200 points together so offense will still be there, but trading a dude like Marner usually means you're losing the trade no matter what.

Exactly, Mitch is still a top 5 RW no matter what leafs fans say
The problem with a marner trade, is even a great GM like Brad could not get Marner's Value back
Probably not, it depends on what you view as his value. If you are looking at just regular season results then absolutely not, if you are looking at just playoffs then he will absolutely get a better return, if you are looking at both combined I think he could get like 80% of his value. Something like Saros + Tomasino + Fabbro from Nashville could be a very good basis.

I'd like to think Saros would be a no-go from NSH, I could see them moving picks though, which could help the Leafs' pool and acquire other guys

That is a good trade, But i am not sure if Mitch waives
Nobody says he’s a bad player but he’s not getting paid 11 million to dominate the Flyers on a Tuesday night in December, he’s getting paid to produce in the playoffs. He’s shown time and time against he’s incapable of doing that. Ship his ass out
The funny thing is, he does have 49 points in 54 games. You guys talk about him like he has 20 points in 100 playoff games. It's ridiculous how off base everyone is on this site all the time. Like just do a 30 second google search
Marner absolutely has value but if the Leafs go out in R1 he will be under even more fire from the fans and media than he is right now. That and running it back is just moronic.
The thing Leafs fans should appreciate is that Treliving is actually very good at making blockbuster trades. The Hamilton deal was fantastic for Calgary, the Tkachuk deal was widely viewed as a home run when it was made too, despite Tkachuk refusing to sign a contract and asking for a trade. Not to mention he would have landed Eichel too had Vegas not casually added Mark Stone and Pacioretty to LTIR to make the room

Exactly! Marner is still a top 5 RW and is just a very good player, Up there with Tkachuk and Rantanen

Which is why I said that you are wrong,
He's been brutal
Leafs are lucky Matthews with 3points and JT with a goal in the series have been lighting it up to Marners 1goal and 1 assist. (Matthews-28 Nylander-24 Tavares-36 Rielly-42) The number is how many pounds each player out weighs Marner by. He is by far the smallest guy but leaf fans expect him to play like the biggest. Besides Matthews once every 25games not one of those guys makes a check you can say makes the other team keep their head up. But Marner is the problem in the playoffs.

Nylander decided to sleep through the first few games

Mitch Marner in career games 5-7: 19 games, 1 goal, 7 assists
Yeah, That Tkachuk trade was horrible and Markstrom and Huberdeau got bad contracts
As did Kadri and Weegar as well. I full expect Treliving to give out more than one terrible long term deal for some older guy who's best days at behind him.

So did Dubas and he has turned out "well" in Pittsburgh

Fire the coach and get someone who doesn't always get out coached. The Leafs offence disappears through ever series. It's because they don't adjust to anything the other team does and they all figure out Keefe and then nullify all of TO's strengths. It never changes.
So did Dubas and he has turned out "well" in Pittsburgh
Dubas never had the final say in TO. Shanahan told him what to do. Dubas I think is a good GM. He'll make the right moves. Pittsburgh should sell everything and rebuild. Dubas will see you through that. Still unsure of how good he is but I think he stopped Shanahan from a lot of really bad ideas.
The one thing Dubas didn't do was sign 30 year olds to major term. For what the player could do in his younger years. It's a problem still and it never seems to change but Dubas didn't do that. His track record with goalies certainly isn't good but give him sometime.
