Dallas obviously declines. Add Slaf to get the conversation started

Idiot responses are worse than the bad trades.

A 24 year old, top 5-8 winger in the whole league, who has scored 40+ goals multiple times and has put up 100+ points, while also being great defensively, who is arguably the best player on a cup contender is worth that much. Not saying Montreal would/should do it, but it would have to be an absurdly high price like that to get Dallas to even consider it

Cap crunch is why i think he thought you would be cause of Benn's NMC f'ing DAL over.
Where as Robertson has none.
I mean i think it was 9 player with 15m and you need brought back many guys including Pavelski, Duchene and to sign a back up as well as a bunch of RFA's.
But the year after you got like 35 to sign 8 with more flexibility if you can kick the can down the road 1 year on some of them.
Really DAL could squeak it out with no upgrades if they move out Faksa and Pavelskiy/Duchene sign for similar contracts(unlikely but who knows 1 could)

Easiest path is to find a team Benn would waive his NMC for like TML in a trade for Mitch Marner
DAL i think has to pay TML to make that move but could ask for Jason's little brother Nick in the exchange if pressed.

Marner i think could work in DAL, he's gotten to comfortable in TML just being #3-4 guy behind Tavares, Matthews ,Reilly and even Nylander most nights.
Benn brings the Grit TML needs and is an ideal 3rd line Center who can bring a lot to TML

I’m not a Stars fan. And while Johnston is great he’s not as good as Robertson or Heiskanen imo (although he could be in a year or two)

I am a Stars fan. Johnston is fantastic & very realistically could be Dallas’ best player within the next couple of years, but right now he’s behind Robertson, Heiskanen, and Hintz.

Johnston. Who’s the Leafs best player in the playoff right now? Max Domi. Does that mean he’s better than Auston Matthews?
