Description
looking at the lines thers alot of 1 and 2 years left. So this or next year could be the last year they have in a while. If gabe keeps this up hes asking for a big raise. i feel this is a better lineup and with a young coach could do damage. Forward core is slightly worse relying on two rookies to step up. The right side for d is upgraded. Schmidt and samberg analytical is one of the best pairings in the league. Iaffalo is making too much for a fourth line guy and in chicago could put up numbers and be a good piece for chicago to sell at the deadline. appletons starting to get a bad rap in winnipeg and having a barlow slot in there would be perfect where he would be the goal scorer on that line who can hit. Tarasov had pretty good numbers for a poor Columbus team and pionk at 4M and could be traded with more retained at the deadline. Might've under sold because pionks liability and cap but goalies are unpredictable. choose not to sell ehlers because hopefully the coach plays him in more crucial moments.

J don’t see Dillon or Demelo taking very favorable deals to stay in Winnipeg. It isn’t one of those kinds of places

demelos been here for 5 years and has a kid a wife and another kid due in august last thing he needs is to worry about finding a new place to stay. both are just bridge deals and could go up

This is like so many of the other proposed cap dumps to Chicago… if the Hawks need to take another contract to reach the cap floor they may accept but I think they would exhaust other options for a better payoff first.

If Hawks completely strike out in free agency, they might have to make a trade like this but they want to get better. Iafallo had 27 pts in 82 games which means they would be getting another bottom 6 guy that could possibly be a middle 6 guy if things go well. Hawks already have guys like that in the system.
