Leafs would gladly accept that, but NSH would be genuinely stupid to do it. I can't believe you nerds are still trying to trade Sorrows.

VGK definitely sign Marchchessassault for that price. And if they were to pass on him, then someone else is definitely signing him for 6+mil.

It’s the term that might scare people away from marsh that’s why I gave 4 years. And you trade saros because you invested the 11th pick to draft askarov. He will take over sooner than later. If you sign saros and keep askarov he might jet to Russia. Why would want to be a back up for 7-8 years. And the fact that preds management decided to pass on some pretty good forwards to draft askarov Mercer and Jarvis just to name a couple.

Askarov isn't proven yet though, so if you're trading Saros, you're probably not signing a guy like Marchessault. I know they have Lankinen but he too isn't really a sure thing. Trading Askarov (which I think Trotz has tried) and signing Saros is probably the smartest thing to do considering the ages of O'Reilly, Josi, and Forsberg. Would make a Marchessault signing make more sense imo.

I know the point of the ACGM is to make a Marner trade which is another reason for you to trade Saros but I don't think the Preds and Leafs make good trading partners if they are looking to be competitive.

That would very dumb by pres management to trade askarov knowing they passed on Jarvis and Mercer, two forwards that could be helping the preds now. It was a head scratcher pick when we picked him but you have made this bed you’ll have to sleep in it now. Askarov would back up Lankinen this year and possibly be ready in 26. Our lack of secondary scoring has been a major issue in Nashville along with not having a true top line center. Well the latter isn’t growing on trees so you have to get wingers to help the lack of secondary scoring.
I would love for the preds to rebuild but with our roster and age of it you have to try and be competitive.

Well if there is fear that Askarov isn't willing to stick around, then they have no choice but to trade him or play him. Luckily for Trotz, he's not the one who made that selection, so as long as he gets good value out of Askarov it's not egg on his face. So, if it's Saros vs Askarov, I think it makes more sense in the now to keep Saros over him (even if in the future they might wish they hadn't) taking into consideration the age of the group.

The problem of course is finding good value for Askarov, there might not be any good options, while getting good value out of Saros (probably not what is proposed here) would be easier. Even if they could get Marner out of Saros & Co, which would be some crazy value and a great trade, I don't think the team improves enough to truly be competitive at least in the next 2-seasons, unless Askarov arrives. I do think NSH should and will try to address their secondary scoring needs, by targeting a big-ticket winger in FA like Guentzel, Reinhart, or Marchessault + bolstering the defense as you suggested but like you said they still need help down the middle, so maybe keeping the goaltending an area of sure-strength would be wiser. Maybe they can get Brett Pesce or Matt Roy instead of Zadorov as well.

I'm not sure that's enough. Probably replace Schenn with Fabbro and swap the 2nd with Tomasino. Maybe keep the 2nd and throw in Liljegren.

Also FYI Zadorov is abysmal on his off hand side. You should probably try and keep Carrier there. I also think Vegas will keep Marchessault at that cap and term

I really dont believe this team gets anywhere with Novak as 2C.

Zadorav is big and strong but i dont think he can keep up with Josi. I think Brunette would keep McDonagh Josi together and have Zadorov with Fabbro since fabbro isnt physical himself to have someone on that pairing that can clear the crease.
