I wouldn't even take Bear for that 3rd round pick, let alone send a 2nd back to WSH.

If you have a link to that study, I would be interested in checking it out.

I wish Ethan Bear nothing but the best of luck in dealing with his off ice issues but I see no reason for the Hawks to acquire troubled players when there will be many other comparable players available.

Without knowing what the off-ice issues are exactly, makes this hard to say whether or not he is worth moving back a round for him. If it is a mental health thing that he recovers from than I could see someone moving back to grab him for a relatively cheap price. He was a high end piece for Vancouver and couldn't find his stride in D.C. maybe its the system or maybe its what he needed to go into the NHLPA program for. Hard to tell, but i feel like if he was cleared he would make an ideal Blackhawk if he came back to form

The uncertainty is part of what would make him a cap dump, though. But, even if positive value were in the cards, it wouldn't be from the 2nd to the 3rd. It would be something more like trading back from the 4th round to the 5th round.

Sabres would pass imo
Don’t think we’d give up a good young player like that for an older rental

Jensen is not a rental he has term on his contract. And even than you need RHD and you have a stockpile of young forwards so I was trying to take the Young forward who is not one of the top 5 young guys up front

Not sure if the op got changed, the way it reads now, the Sabres are trading Rosen for dowd. I think dowd is a fit for buffalo, but I don't think the Sabres would trade Rosen for him. We have too many small skill forwards coming up, I'm open to moving some, but for a rental it seems steep. Rosen was a 14th overall pick a few years ago, the amerks coach has been pushing him to add strength, and trying to develop his two-way game. Maybe that's why his 50 points in 67 ahl games this season don't jump off the page, but he still seems like too much to give up for a rental. Plus, the gm that drafted him is still here, I think adams would move him, but it would have to make sense. There's probably a pick or two that would be easier to give up.

Agreed
(Assuming we were interested)
I think it’s much more likely we’d simply trade a pick for Dowd,
as opposed to Rosen

Even though we have a surplus of young forwards,
Adams clearly doesn’t want to move any of them
At least not YET….

He's gonna have a busy summer I hope. Do you think the Sabres are gonna have an internal cap, or are they just leaving some runway for signing a bunch of kids to second contracts?

I think this supposed “internal cap talk” is just a bunch of BS from the crybaby fans who need an excuse to hate on Pegula

We’ve gotta sign Byram, Quinn & Peterka after next season
All likely to significant deals that’ll take up a bunch of Cap

So i could see us adding guys like Dowd, etc
Guys who only have 1 year left on their current deals,
or UFAs to 1 year deals
That way we have the Cap free to sign our young guys

My bad I forgot that I swapped that. Originally I had Jensen going to the Sabres but than I swapped it to Dowd because I thought they could use a good shutdown center over another defenseman

Really interesting from EDM's POV, not to over ask but would WSH consider retaining on TVR as well? He'd probs be 3rd pairing for us.
Could even move that 7th up a few rounds to make that retention happen.

No worries
And we could use Dowd- just don’t think we give up Rosen to get him
And Jensen could be of interest as well if we don’t wanna sign Jokiharju long term

It does seem like we are trying to “win now” though
So it wouldn’t be surprising if we make a few moves geared in that direction
