I would take it if I were the Blues. Hofer could easily become the starter and you could make another trade to address the defenseman

St Louis counters with...

Binnington and Faulk (plus conditional 2027 2cd if St Louis makes playoffs and 2026 3rd if Marner extends)
for
Woll, Marner and Liljegren

This might be the worst deal for Marner yet.
Bing is at best a decent starter and Parakyo is not his young self anymore.

We'll add Cowan to that deal as well, only fair

Leafs are better just to have Marner for one season and then in free cap instead of 12.75 Binnington and Parayko.

Imagine the media this year and how radioactive that was? If Marner plays next year...wow...

I will never understand Toronto fans, every single armchair gm for Toronto is trying to move Marner out and not one armchair gm is trying to move Parayko from Blues fans. Yall can keep your ten million dollar cancer clearly you don’t want him.

By what standard?

Parayko had probably his best season of his career last season. Binnington as well. Are we excluding that?

It doesn't matter regardless. Blues don't have the structure to sign Marner to one of those mega deals and fix their issues. That doesn't even factor in trading away the only good defensively defenseman on our roster and our starting goalie.

We just want change. I think the Leafs are finally seeing what every other team has said, you can't win with 45 million tied up between 4 people.
It's not that Marner is a cancer, he's a point per game guy, who loves to have fun and score big goals. Sure his playoff numbers aren't great, but he is still a top 10 winger in the league.
He holds more value or JT which is why he is the scapegoat here. Matthews wont be moved and Nyalnder just signed an extension.

In fairness there's probably 10 fold Toronto fans than anybody else on this site. The annoying part is there's 25 of these a week where it's the same response over and over again. was like that for 2 months up to the trade deadline too.

Toronto just doesn't have the piece we'd need to move Parayko, and we don't have the structure to sign Marner. Nothing wrong with marner, fantastic player. Playoff stuff is overblown just as it is with anyone in a situation like this (Barbashev last year). If Marner is coming in Kyrou has to go out the other way. If Parayko is going out a young 1D has to come back, we can't replace him on the open market or via trade, so we'd just be looking for someone to replace him.

Its about a fresh start for both team and player. Clearly not working with this group. Calling him a cancer is a bit much as you see he is loved by his teammates. Any team would want marner just have to find the right deal.

Parakyo is currently 30 and had his first good season in years. I just get worried with his age/contract.

Bing is just a bag of wildness the Leafs don't need.

Totally agree it makes no sense for Blues

Mostly agreed. On its face I scream "ACCEPT! NO TAKE BACKS!" but then when you dig into it...

Yea, we'd then need to find another goalie and there's a very real chance Marner doesn't re-sign in St. Louis. We can't do the mega bonus money and NMC deal (because, you know, we can't have a player who has more power than the owner. Amiright?!)

Plus I don't know that Marner is the type of player Army wants. Shoot, we had Blues fans up in arms at various points the last couple seasons about Kyrou. Now you bring in another one? (albeit more talented)?

I just don't see it happening. I don't see the Blues being in the mix for Marner at all, if for no other reason the contract and fit issues. Much less what the Blues would be giving up.

While Marner did get crucified for some of the issues that Kyrou has, they aren't really the same player. Marner has alot more consistent tenacity on the puck. But Toronto also plays a much different system. It'd be really interesting to see what would happen if they swapped spots.

Binnington contrary to his numbers has been very good the last two years. The year before he was pretty bad in the regular season. Completely understand the caution about both players.

Parayko has been thrown into some ridiculous usage the last 2-3 years with partners who aren't really suited for that role. He hasn't been outwardly bad. But he hasn't been excellent like he was for most of this year. He isn't an overly physical player, but hes big and can move bodies. I don't think he'll have much of a regression unless he suffers another injury.
