Weak offer for Lindholm.

No way Marner waives to the Habs and they are not a Marner rental away from competing either

It's a watered down league. Get a few star players, a good goalie, a good coach and some puck moving defencemen and any team can compete. Montreal isn't far away from making the playoffs. Boston and Tampa could take a step back.

Montreal is like 3 years from making the playoffs. Would they benefit from adding Marner? Probably but not for 1 year

Montreal and kent hughes are clearly going for a team made out of different type of players, marner unfortunately for you doesn't fit that mold

Habs are 2-3 years from being competitive; SENs & Sabres fans were saying the same thing 2-3 years ago about the Bruins and Bolts. Plus the Wings are ahead of all of them. Prospects are - more often than every fan would like - are not as good as you’d hope and Habs future relies on their prospects hitting because their current roster is a$$.

They have another top 5 pick this year, to go along with that Reinbacher defenceman they drafted last year, plus they have Hutson. So they're set on defence. Slaf improved this year, forming a lethal line with Caufield and Suzuki. Marner can drive his own line. That's the top six taken care of. They just need a goalie, and add a couple of veterans in free agency. They can be the New Jersey Devils of the Atlantic.

Dmen take time to develop - if they even develop. Obviously you’re higher on the Habs than me : Suzuki - Caufield - Slaf are a thoroughly uninspiring, below average top line imo, certainly nothing special. They are 2-3 years away from being competitive , at minimum
