Interesting trade, but Miro has more potential as a goal scorer than Rossi has as a center ATM

I’d agree, but that said, Miro hasn’t proven anything at the NHL level yet. Rossi was a .5 PPG game player, one of the best defensive forwards on the team, and put up 21 goals (19 even strength) in his rookie season and from what I’ve read, the Caps need to upgrade at center.

Rossi isn't an upgrade at Center over anything that the caps already have.

He’s an upgrade over everyone but Strome and only because Strome is an established vet

He's about equal with McMichael and Lapierre has more potential than Rossi, this wasn't the case in 2020 but a lot has changed with Rossi and his health since 2020

You keep talking about potential but potential doesn’t mean anything until that player actually makes a sizeable impact

That's not true, that's the point of talking about potential

That said, neither Lapierre nor McMichael have ever had more potential than Rossi, they don't now, and they aren't currently as good as he is, despite being the same age (or older for McMichael)

I understand what you’re saying but that’s not how I deciphered the way @sprak is using it.

I don't like the Capitals trade at all from a Minnesota POV. I would rather keep Ek Jr, errrr I mean Rossi.

hahaha now THIS is a take...so basically any prospect is irrelevant until they make a sizeable impact?
