As much as the trade is fair, I would not trade him to a divisional opponent.

If im Winnipeg, there is no way I trade Scheifele. He is already a top 5 Center in the West and might be better than Toews (offensively-speaking) right now. Toews certainly has intangibles and has 3 cups, but I think Winnipeg should stay the course. They have some solid young players and should be a playoff team sooner rather than later.

This trade would be awesome for Hawks and bad for Jets, cause Toews is already on the peak of his career and won't get any better than this. On the other hand, both Scheifele and Trouba is young cores with a great upside and can become even better than they already are.

Besides, Jets is a team build to win a cup in the next 5 years. They are not in "win now" mode. So, I wouldn't do this trade, if I was Jets GM.

It's not really a fair comparison. Toews won't get fair trade value right now...whatever fair trade value means for him right now... Lot's of reasons why. I am very much looking forward to this season!
