it would be nice if
Some Pittsburgh fans are obsessed with Skinner, I just don’t see it. We don’t need him especially for what it would cost. That’s way too much to give up in my opinion. No way $4M for Grabner also. The Kessel trade though, hell yes. I thinks it’s fair and a solid trade for us

18-19 Pens
While I'm not a huge fan of Aberg, I think that he can play in the bottom six just as well as Sheary, and save us some $$$ to. Not sure the Oilers make that move with their cap problems though. They need to shed salary not add. I like the signing of Kuni and Hickey, but your RFA numbers are a bit low in terms of dollar amounts. Rust will get +$3M and Oleksiak will get $1.5M or so.
I believe that Hunwick gets traded tomorrow night in the 3rd round with a team wanting to move up. We will trade our 64th pick and Hunwick for a pick somewhere in the 80's. You heard it here first!

18-19 Team
You've just destroyed our winger depth in order to acquire another high priced center, which we do not need. Now that we have Brassard we no longer need Nugent Hopkins. I will say though that I do like the Ristolainen trade. Not because I dont like Kessel, but if somehow you convinced Buffalo to not lottery protect that 1st round pick and they suck again, that 1st rounder next year could theoretically turn into Jack Hughes. This is HIGHLY unlikely, but its an intriguing thought. No way Botterill trades that 1st rounder though without knowing how his team will fare next season.

Hell, while we are at it, might as well trade Kris Letang for a 6th rounder and really clear out some cap space. Maybe then we could sign Kovalchuk to! Lol

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Eli</b></div><div>I totally see the Penguins winning the next five Stanley Cups with this lineup. That's why Washington does not take a single pick and a salary dump for its best player.</div></div>
2 things:
1. Kessel - 2x Stanley cup champion - 45 points in last 49 playoff games = not a salary dump.
2. Ovechkin is not your best player, that would be Backstrom.

Yea no thanks. You are highly overvaluing Ovechkin. Smart GMs pay for future production, not past production. Ovechkins best days are behind him.

You should be able to get faksa for less than this I think. Dallas would be looking for and NHL player in return but I think they need wingers not overpaid defenseman

A Trade for the Sedins
While I agree that acquiring the Sedin twins makes us incredible favorites to 3-peat this year, my only concern is salary. I don't think that a rebuilding team like Vancouver will want Hornqvist and Hagelin. Maatta might entice them, as well as the picks. But they will want some younger talent like Sprong, ZAR, Bluegar, Sheary, etc, over older guys who are costly and will be gone before they are competitive again. If you can't unload Hagelin and Hornqvist, then there is no way you can make the $$$ work to fit the Sedins in under the cap. Your proposed lineup is scary as hell though.

3C Gamble 2.0
Sheahan had a down year last year for sure, so I'm guessing he would be in line for a bounce back, especially if he's playing with much better wingers than he was in Detroit. Also, he is in a contract year, so he will have extra incentive to produce. I look at his plus/minus last year and that is cause for concern. Since you've resigned Cullen though, your PK centers would be him and Rowney, so that makes this move a little easier to do. Without Cullen, you are counting on Sheahan in a PK role, and I dont know how well he does there. The deal is fair though, I think.

The New HBK
My biggest concern with Bozak, is that he is awful defensively. Bonino did not have the offensive upside that Bozak has, but he was a good defensive center and strong on the PK. Also, I would think we could get Bozak for less than a 1st rounder. I think a 2nd and someone line archibald or kuhnhackl could get it done.

No to Jagr. Why would we want a 45 year old anchor. Come on. Sam Bennett is interesting but I don't know if Calgary would want to give him up for a 1 year rental and a late 1st and 3rd rounder.

I could see Calgary or San Jose taking a step back this year, leaving a spot for Winnipeg to sneak in. I think the Jets are 2 years out from being contenders in the west. I really like where that team is headed

Pittsburgh fans + Any fans. Is this a fair trade for both sides? Read descriptio
This deal is fair I think. But I don't know if we can pay a 3C $6 million a year and still be able to fill out a competive roster. We have gotten lucky that some younger under the radar guys have panned out, but we shouldn't count on that prospect pool being endless.

I think this deal is fair if NY throws in a prospect instead of Holden. Grabner and Kreidler with McDavid is scary (though I think they are both RWs).

Toews Trade
If im Winnipeg, there is no way I trade Scheifele. He is already a top 5 Center in the West and might be better than Toews (offensively-speaking) right now. Toews certainly has intangibles and has 3 cups, but I think Winnipeg should stay the course. They have some solid young players and should be a playoff team sooner rather than later.

SJS Kessel trade
As a Pens fan, I say no to this. This trade doesn't make us better in the now, which is what we are playing for. The first round pick is probably in the 20s range, which usually doesn't pan out for 2-3 seasons at least. Our top 6 in D is set, so Braun is not needed, and Tierny and Meier are not top 6, which is what we would need in return to make this trade. I would say no to this if I were GMJR. Pens have to play to win in the next 2-3 years.

Mr. Rutherford, Here is Your Team
No way Colorado agrees to this. Their first round pick will be near the top of the draft and ours would be towards the end of the first round. Hard pass on Jagr also. He is not a fit in our system. Rutherford has already said he has no intention of signing Jagr.
