I totally see the Penguins winning the next five Stanley Cups with this lineup. That's why Washington does not take a single pick and a salary dump for its best player.

just about every team would offer something better than this....also have to consider the fact Washington wouldn't want to deal him to Pittsburgh

2 things:
1. Kessel - 2x Stanley cup champion - 45 points in last 49 playoff games = not a salary dump.
2. Ovechkin is not your best player, that would be Backstrom.

Kessel is arguably the better player, especially at this point in time, at a MUCH better cap hit. Even with your retention ... I just don't like Ovy. He looks fat and out of shape at the END of the season let alone the beginning. He just doesn't seem like a guy committed to winning on or off the ice to me.

Also you're 3C is a rookie whos NEVER played a nhl game and your 4C is likely retired. I'd put Ovy on the 3rd line for depth scoring, like we can do with Kessel ... but I don't see Ovy as guy who elevates the 3rd line.
