VAN could get much more than 2 bottom 6 players, a hurt 2nd pairing dman, and a late 1st WITH money retained on the Sedins.

VAN can only retain on 1 of the Sedin's as they are already retaining on 2 other contracts. Better bet is to wait till the deadline when their hit is prorated and then get VAN to retain.

Vancouver isn't able to retain salary on both Daniel and Henrik. You can only retain on 3 contracts, and they already are on two others, Luongo and Hansen.

Plus it's not a great trade for Van anyway.

Rust is for sure a top 6 player and Maatta is a top 4 defensman. Agree that the pens would need to add another piece but they arent far off. No way Vancouver would retain that much on even 1 of their contracts though.
