GM Game 2017-2018: Montreal Canadiens

Created by: ricochetii
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 15, 2017
Published: Sep. 15, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Win now mode.

Status: Looking for depth improvements and futures.
I'm listening to anything, but main roster is pretty much set, so offer accordingly.

---------- Available -----------
Schlemko - 3rd/4th or equivalent prospect
Morrow - 6th/7th round prospect, prefer RW/RHD

Offers should include futures without having a negative impact on my roster. (ie: if you want Benn I'd expect a RHD that helps me now as well as a pick or a prospect).
If prices are high it is because I have no NEED to move anyone.

Players currently in the minors are negotiable (view Capfriendly team list: https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canadiens)

------------ Wants -------------
- Missing picks
- The last 5 years back

----------- Directives ------------
- Build a contender
- Manage cap
- Restock picks

** Ignore lines and roster set up. I'll be playing with it a lot. **

----- Player Rights -------
F: Naatinen Pezzetta Cates Vejdemo Ikonen Trunev Friberg
D: Koberstein Staum Henrikson Tyszka Walford Fleury Brook
G: Hawkey

----- Notes -----
I own the 2nd (WSH - 2018) from the conditional picks in the Drouin/Sergachev trade.

Hmmm... Brandon Sutter for Torrey Mitchell as a base?

I couldn't afford to take him even if I had a roster spot for him, sorry.

Won't be moving Kase. You can offer, but I don't see it happening and don't want to lead you on.

Well, I can't add a player without taking players back, but maybe I can add a little value in a pick swap so you aren't just giving up a pick completely.
In return, you can let me pick the AHL'er, so I'm at least investing the difference in my farm team.

                    Vande Sompel, Fritz, 4th (WSH - 2019) for Jerabek, Mitchell, 5th (TOR - 2019)

                    Sound better?

If you think Fritz will ever be an NHL'er or have a particular attachment to him, let me know and I'll look again.
I'm trying to avoid anyone that might still be considered a "prospect", but can still produce at the AHL level.

The only attachment I have to him is that he's virtually the only right-handed forward that I have in the AHL, that and he's doing absolutely phenomenal.

How about LaFranchise? Doing decent in the AHL but at 29/30 years old he isn't likely to be a factor at the NHL level.

I think I still have all 3, but Deslauriers shows up as a blank square on my farm. I need to report it and fix it. I have no record of trading him so that blank spot must be him. Weird.

I'd want a prospect for any one of them, but I may be calling Carr up instead of trading him. I'd probably want someone like Dube if im moving Carr.

I can look for a lower prospect and/or pick for the other two. Only one trade left for December and I was talking to NYI first, so it might have to wait until January regardless. There's an offer on the table right now.

I'd be expecting waiver exempt players at the least. If you want to let me know who's available, I'll range a look and get back to you with who I'm interested in.

                    Hunt?

Vande Sompel, Hunt, and 4th (WSH - 2019) for Jerabek, Mitchell and 5th (TOR - 2019)
                    or
Vande Sompel, AHL forward (you choose) and 4th (WSH - 2019) for Jerabek, Mitchell and 7th (MTL - 2019)

                    Which would you prefer?

                    This is my counter offer:

Vande Sompel, Stevens, 2019 5th (NYI) for Mitchell, Jerebek, 2018 or 19 3rd

In my opinion, you will be getting an upgrade on LHD, one of which who doesn't have a clause to go to a different league if he's not on the NHL roster, and has a shot at being a good player for their NHL team (Jerebek just doesn't seem like he fits in well with the MTL organization and Vande Sompel might have a chance to be a 2nd/3rd line defenseman with NYI in about a year or so), Stevens could be value at around what your valuing Mitchell and the pick swap is to even out the edges.

I'm done moving picks unless it's from the 5th round or later in 2019, since I have extras. My roster is more or less set. The AHL player is of no consequence, we're only discussing which one because you wanted me to add a little.
It's really Sompel and a 4th for Jerabek and Mitchell. I added a 7th because you asked for a little more.

I'll make it a 6th (2019) if you send Hunt or Fritz to balance the contracts.

Sompel, Hunt or Fritz, 4th Wsh 2019 for
                    Jerabek, Mitchell, 6th Mtl 2019

I don't think I can, it seems like too much to me. I'm dealing you a future NHL LHD, someone with NHL experience in Hunt or someone who's killing it in the AHL who could possibly be a potential bottom 6 forward and a 2019 4th for someone who's not doing the best in the NHL, a player that you value at a 2018 7th, and a 2019 6th.

No problem. Not a trade I need to make. Price was in my description from the start. I want a 4th and a prospect.
I can try to find a different prospect, as I'm not particularly interested in Sompel, but you'd have to give me some ideas. I didn't see anyone outside of Toews (you said no) and Durandeau (already gone), that did interest me.

If you think of something else let me know. smile

Edit: I forgot Koivula. Him and a 4th works. Ahler doesn't matter if im not sending a pick back.

Koivula 4th and any ahler for Jerabek and Mitchell.

I'm going to keep Koivula for now to see how he does in the IIHF World Juniors tournament, he might become available later.

Edit: Do you happen to have any interest in Jonathan Bernier as a backup option over Al Montoya?

No thanks. I might pick up a 3rd string goalie in the AHL at a much later time, but I prefer Montoya to Bernier regardless.

Maybe Studnicka. Add Durandeau for both. Maybe a 1st for both and Jerabek or Morrow for Leivo and an ahler.

Fucale and 2nd (Wsh 2018) for Texier and Brisebois?
This is pending Sergachev playing 3 more games, but that's just a matter of time.

Texier has been traded unfortunately. But I'd still like to work something out around Brisebois.

I'd like to reunite the Tanev brothers if Brandon is available.

I really like Tanev's game. He was my first pickup for a reason. You wouldn't like the price if I could even come up with one.
Texier was the main guy I wanted. I might swap prospects for Brisebois, it would depend on who you'd want?

No problem. I'd still like Fontaine, if you're interested in a prospect swap?

                    Pezetta, Audette, Bourque, or Hawkey?
That's 2 forwards 1 defense and 1 goalie similarly drafted. If you figure out where you need depth and one of them interests you let me know.

Going to hang on to Fleury. Poehling and Bitten are negotiable. Might be interested in Senyshyn and I'd like to recover a 1st round pick in 18, but 19 is a possibility as well. Have anything in mind?
