GM Game 2017-2018: Montreal Canadiens

Created by: ricochetii
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 15, 2017
Published: Sep. 15, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Win now mode.

Status: Looking for depth improvements and futures.
I'm listening to anything, but main roster is pretty much set, so offer accordingly.

---------- Available -----------
Schlemko - 3rd/4th or equivalent prospect
Morrow - 6th/7th round prospect, prefer RW/RHD

Offers should include futures without having a negative impact on my roster. (ie: if you want Benn I'd expect a RHD that helps me now as well as a pick or a prospect).
If prices are high it is because I have no NEED to move anyone.

Players currently in the minors are negotiable (view Capfriendly team list: https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canadiens)

------------ Wants -------------
- Missing picks
- The last 5 years back

----------- Directives ------------
- Build a contender
- Manage cap
- Restock picks

** Ignore lines and roster set up. I'll be playing with it a lot. **

----- Player Rights -------
F: Naatinen Pezzetta Cates Vejdemo Ikonen Trunev Friberg
D: Koberstein Staum Henrikson Tyszka Walford Fleury Brook
G: Hawkey

----- Notes -----
I own the 2nd (WSH - 2018) from the conditional picks in the Drouin/Sergachev trade.

In general? Not looking to move him so no price in mind. I'd consider Anderson Dolan if you were to offer. Can't think of anything else sufficient as RHD isn't an area I'm comfortably stocked in.

Is there anything to make to you pull the trigger now? I tend to overvalue NCAA guys so I don't want to add too much but just curious.

Evans and Audette for Cates, Kase, and my 2018 7th back?
(If you go by pick value, that's basically Audette for Kase added to your offer.) Cates was a 5th rounder and is taking the long route, so he won't be available for at least a few years.

I don't mind moving Cates and your pick back but I don't really have room for Audette's contract. What about Cates/7th for Evans as a base?

I like Evans better and the pick doesn't make up the difference. There's a little incentive to picking up Ondrej's little brother, but that's whimsical more than anything.
If it helps you, you can send an extra AHLer on a 1 year contract to free up a spot?

I like David though probably a lot more than others. Mainly because Swedish scouts say he's better than his brother at this age and I'm a huge fan of Ondrej and don't want to sell low on David just because he hasn't signed yet haha. If I could add to Cates for Evans somehow I'd be open to it but I'm reluctant to move most of the prospects I have since I moved them. What about Cates/your 7th/5th? It's basically the original offer that you were saying was fair but adding Cates. Does that interest you?

Yeah, I could live with that if you are okay with it. It's more than fair based on right now.
I think Evans is the better player, but this gives me some ammunition to rebuild my prospect depth.
Both 2018 picks? (I already have two 5ths next year and it will still leave you with 7 picks in 2018)

Wasn't aware of Kase getting that kind of praise, so I don't blame you for wanting to keep him.

                    So Evans for Cates, 5th (BOS - 2018), and 7th (MTL - 2018)?
If I have that right, you can write it up.

                    Thanks for the trade. smile

I don't have a BOS 5th so don't write it up yet haha. I only have my picks. I was thinking a 2019 5th since I actually don't have one of those 1sts since it's conditional leaving me with only 6 picks in 2018 if I trade two picks.

Oops. I had to remember to process my Boston trade so I had them in my head and put the wrong team. 2019 5th is fine. I'm still on mobile right now, so you can post and switch the 5th. If not, let me know and I'll catch up when I'm on a computer.

I'm interested in acquiring Mitchell + Jerabek but don't got a 2018 4th. Would a 2019 4th be fine plus 2 random contracts so I can stay at the 50/50 contract limit?

I'd accept a 2019 4th and Toews for Mitchell and Jerabek. Any 1 year AHL contract you want to send back would be fine.

2nd or 3rd and a prospect perhaps. Problem is that you don't want to move the only guys im interested in. Did you pick up anyone since last conversation that might interest me?

Same issue as above. Studnicka maybe. I need RHD more than C depth right now, so if you need RHD more than C, perhaps it could work. Id have to think about it first.

Not dealing Toews, who else interests you?

Vande Sompel, AHL contract dump, and 5th (CHI - 2018) for Jerabek and Mitchell maybe?

Are you willing to add a little?

Well, I can't add a player without taking players back, but maybe I can add a little value in a pick swap so you aren't just giving up a pick completely.
In return, you can let me pick the AHL'er, so I'm at least investing the difference in my farm team.

                    Vande Sompel, Fritz, 4th (WSH - 2019) for Jerabek, Mitchell, 5th (TOR - 2019)

                    Sound better?

If you think Fritz will ever be an NHL'er or have a particular attachment to him, let me know and I'll look again.
I'm trying to avoid anyone that might still be considered a "prospect", but can still produce at the AHL level.

Hmmm... Brandon Sutter for Torrey Mitchell as a base?
