GM Game 2017-2018: Montreal Canadiens

Created by: ricochetii
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 15, 2017
Published: Sep. 15, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Win now mode.

Status: Looking for depth improvements and futures.
I'm listening to anything, but main roster is pretty much set, so offer accordingly.

---------- Available -----------
Schlemko - 3rd/4th or equivalent prospect
Morrow - 6th/7th round prospect, prefer RW/RHD

Offers should include futures without having a negative impact on my roster. (ie: if you want Benn I'd expect a RHD that helps me now as well as a pick or a prospect).
If prices are high it is because I have no NEED to move anyone.

Players currently in the minors are negotiable (view Capfriendly team list: https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canadiens)

------------ Wants -------------
- Missing picks
- The last 5 years back

----------- Directives ------------
- Build a contender
- Manage cap
- Restock picks

** Ignore lines and roster set up. I'll be playing with it a lot. **

----- Player Rights -------
F: Naatinen Pezzetta Cates Vejdemo Ikonen Trunev Friberg
D: Koberstein Staum Henrikson Tyszka Walford Fleury Brook
G: Hawkey

----- Notes -----
I own the 2nd (WSH - 2018) from the conditional picks in the Drouin/Sergachev trade.

What would you do as a base for Baerschi?

I'll have to check some numbers and get back to you if we're just talking Baertschi.
Have to price him for next year and see if it fits into my cap. Most of the guys you named aren't due for a raise next season.
Danault would be the best option, but I value him way more than Baertschi and have no need to move a C for another W, so not sure if that works.
Is Shaw an option if salary has to be involved?

Not really. I'd probably want one of the players I mentioned before in return.

I mean Baertschi and something for something and Shaw, not Shaw for Baertschi.
(Just an example) Danault + Shaw for Baertschi + a center

If Vrana isn't involved I wouldn't be interested. Lehkonen isn't a player I'd move for a rental or picks.

Lehkonen and Morrow for Vrana, Hobbs, and a 4th (2019)
                    Or
Lehkonen, Plekanec ($3M retained), and Morrow for Vrana, Hobbs, 4th (2019) and Eller?

I don’t remember, was there any pieces from San Jose that interested you for artirri Lehkonen? Also i am separately interested in Noah Juulsen.

Some interest in Grabner or Yakupov but I view them both as rentals and I'm not willing to part with Lehkonen without a significant add to either. Everyone significant is on your untouchables.
Yakupov and Bean might work, for example.

I'd have to be "convinced" to part with Juulsen at this point, but I might be willing to add him to another player for a decent roster upgrade. (Say Shaw and Juulsen for a top 6 W with term.)

Yakupov is RFA at the end of this year if that helps, although at this time I’m not very interested in shopping him. Feel free to make an offer on him though

I'll probably hold off on him then. I think he's going to need more than a season to re-establish himself.

I would need Fowler + Danault + something else to move one of Josi or Ekholm. For Nino, you don't have the winger I'd want here (I'd have interest in Drouin, but I assume you won't move him here).

Is a package involving one of those guys the only thing that interests you in a Danault trade?

Im looking for a winger that's more goal oriented, even if they have less defensive ability, or to add another puck moving LD. Fowler would be a lateral move, Palmieri only has 1 leg atm, nobody else quite fits what I'm looking for.
I'd like to reverse the Subban trade, but I don't see that happening either.
Looks like a dead end unless a 3 way materializes.

Would you be interested in Oscar Lindberg to be your 4C? It'd give you some pretty nice center depth, ability to roll all four lines in the playoffs with confidence (as a Caps fan, I can tell you that is invaluable lmao). The price wouldn't be all that high. Decent prospect or a couple mid round picks would get it done.

What prospect would you trade me straight up for Morrow?

Would you be interested in Oscar Lindberg to be your 4C? It'd give you some pretty nice center depth, ability to roll all four lines in the playoffs with confidence (as a Caps fan, I can tell you that is invaluable lmao). The price wouldn't be all that high. Decent prospect or a couple mid round picks would get it done.

No thanks. I'm not that interested in Lindberg.

Maybe Studnicka. I'd prefer a pick though. I'd be willing to take Durandeau and a 5th (2018) instead of a 3/4th though. Which would you prefer?

I'm interested in Kevin Roy, any roster players or prospects on my farm you'd be interested in?

                    Your 4th (DET - 2019) and Chimera (50% retained)
                    or
4th (DET - 2019), 6th (MTL - 2018), Chimera (not retained) for Roy and Mitchell?

Funny you asked about him now, I was going to call up either him or Carr after tonight's games. Sticking Out Tongue

Studnicka was a 2nd round pick and is showing promise so no. Durandeau is a moosehead so no. Would you trade him for a 4th ?

Don't know what being a Moosehead means. Sentimentality? Either way I'd want a 3rd if im not getting a player I have some interest in.
