GM Game 2017-2018: Montreal Canadiens

Created by: ricochetii
Team: 2017-18 Montreal Canadiens
Initial Creation Date: Sep. 15, 2017
Published: Sep. 15, 2017
Salary Cap Mode: Basic
Description
Win now mode.

Status: Looking for depth improvements and futures.
I'm listening to anything, but main roster is pretty much set, so offer accordingly.

---------- Available -----------
Schlemko - 3rd/4th or equivalent prospect
Morrow - 6th/7th round prospect, prefer RW/RHD

Offers should include futures without having a negative impact on my roster. (ie: if you want Benn I'd expect a RHD that helps me now as well as a pick or a prospect).
If prices are high it is because I have no NEED to move anyone.

Players currently in the minors are negotiable (view Capfriendly team list: https://www.capfriendly.com/teams/canadiens)

------------ Wants -------------
- Missing picks
- The last 5 years back

----------- Directives ------------
- Build a contender
- Manage cap
- Restock picks

** Ignore lines and roster set up. I'll be playing with it a lot. **

----- Player Rights -------
F: Naatinen Pezzetta Cates Vejdemo Ikonen Trunev Friberg
D: Koberstein Staum Henrikson Tyszka Walford Fleury Brook
G: Hawkey

----- Notes -----
I own the 2nd (WSH - 2018) from the conditional picks in the Drouin/Sergachev trade.

                    Add lindren and deal

That's way over the line. I already went above in order to include Mete. If you want, we could go back to the original offer and swap Juulsen with Lindgren. I'll even drop Kirkland.
I didn't go through all that just to start negotiating again, but I guess we're back at square one, so here's the offer now:

Pacioretty, Lindgren, Hudon, 1st (MTL) for
                    Johansen, Hartnell, 4th (NSH - 2018)

                    You mean this?

Pacioretty, Lindgren, Hudon, 1st (MTL) for
                    Johansen, Hartnell, 4th (NSH - 2018)

Or we can do this instead ...

Pacioretty, Lehkonen, Shaw, Mete, 1st (MTL - 2018) for
Johansen, Ekholm, Hartnell, Kirkland, 4th (NSH - 2018)

Decided I can't really move 3 LW in this trade, so I'll leave Lehkonen in, keep Hudon, and leave Trenin out. (I'm assuming you want Lehkonen more than Hudon?)

If it wasn't you, it must have been your GM that stopped by earlier.
I didn't dismiss it as a possibility at the time, but RNH was low on my list of centers to target. I don't have a need for him any more.
You don't currently have anyone outside of Klefbom (no trade to be made there) and possibly Stuart Skinner that interest me, but if you'd like Gallagher you can check with me on 3-way possibilities.

If you'd like to do a minor swap (say Fucale for Skinner) or are interested in Martinsen for a low pick, let me know.

I'm waiting for a response where Gallagher is involved (sometime this weekend hopefully), but if that falls through I'm looking for a vet offensive top 6 RW or puck moving LHD (capable of PP contribution).
If you find a trading partner that doesn't have what you want, you can see if they have what I want and check in with me. If I see someone that has what I want but they need a center, I'll come check in with you.

Well you can see my cap situation, and that's just this year. It starts getting really tight after Price's extension. wink
If it was a 2 year deal, it might be manageable, but then things start to look dire.

So I'm looking at either significant retention or Shaw being part of the deal. (I would prefer to keep Shaw, but it may not be possible)
Question 1, is whether you view Shaw as an asset that will support your players' development.
Failing that, question 2 is how much you can afford to retain on Goligoski.
Question 3 is who specifically would you be interested in? (I know you want picks and prospects silly. Sticking Out Tongue)

My highest available pick right now would be my 2nd in 2019. (I can't afford to move any more 2018's until/unless I restock some, or Sergachev plays 40 games for Tampa).
I won't be moving Juulsen at this point unless it's for a slightly more NHL ready top prospect on an ELC.
Mete could be available, but I'd have to see whether he makes the roster and if he ends up sticking, which would mean no trade would be necessary.
Anyone else is up for consideration.

Hagg or Morin for Mete & Julssen interest you at all? Or we could sub out the prospects but I'm just gauging your interest.

Hagg or Morin for Mete & Julssen interest you at all? Or we could sub out the prospects but I'm just gauging your interest.

Neither is a natural point producer, which is what I really need. Sanheim might work, but only if he makes the team this year. I need someone who can contribute this season.

Not really point producers but they are definitely puck movers and locks for the roster which is why I offered. I wouldn't move Sanheim unless the return player was legit - someone like Drouin but I know that doesn't meet your win now mode

If someone makes the roster in Montreal for the left side I might be set anyway. Mete looks like he may at least get a tryout there, and if he's impressive, might end up playing the season. Montreal doesn't have a lot of options, and he may end up being the best one. Julien likened him to Krug, and he's been partnering with Weber. Juulsen was someone I was prepared to move, but since I was able to acquire a #1 center without trading him, I don't have any real need worth moving him for. I'm prepared to go into the season as is and search for help at the deadline if necessary.

Anyway, doesn't look like we are a good fit right now, but thanks for stopping by. smile

when your trades free up next month, I could possibly take Pleky as a cap dump if you need the space this season

I'm hoping to keep him, but won't be dumping him regardless. He'll either balance salary in another trade or I'll retain to trade him.
(I still have a trade this month as well. First one listed is because a conditional pick was wrong when we started the game)

Not quite what I was looking for, but it's a possibility. I should be able to get back to you tomorrow. Waiting on another offer atm.

Yup. Did you have a return in mind? My hands are tied until October now, so plenty of time to consider.
