Toronto would be all over this for sure but it would be a hard no from St.Louis. First, they need RW and C. Top 6 in each category. They have lots of bottom 6 but not too 6. They are too heavy on LW and this trade is just a bunch of LW. Maybe this would of worked in the summer but not now.

No thanks, if you want Parayko we want Nylander or Marner. Don't need another two way LW and definitely don't want your dumped Fehr and Leivo.
Parayko and a 3rd for
Nylander/Marner and Carrick

This is why Parayko won't be traded. He's a cornerstone for the Blues going forward.

Tom: Fabbri and Steen both who played LW last year, are currently out. Leivo a right hand shot anyway who could move over. In all likelyhood they use Fehr at Center, although he too can play the right side. Carrick fills the RD lost by Parayko! Therefore the only true left side player is JVR. I realize this is really a stretch anyhow, but on balance especially for what they have most recently lost, I do think it fits!

Except STL's weakest positional depth would shift from LD to RD; it wouldn't be a good idea to trust 1 good defenseman (Petro) and a bunch of mediocre ones. We'd fall apart. No, Carrick does not make up for losing Parayko. Plus Steen has a broken thumb I think, should only miss 4-6 weeks to start the year by my guess. Maybe there is some possibility of renting JVR now that Fabbri is out, but that's a whole different discussion.

Leivo, Carrick and Fehr hardly scream difference makers in a trade. If trading quantity the Blues would at least want some quality. And then when the players come back from LTIR, what players go on waivers cause the Blues have too many players that are waiver eligible.
Did Parayko have a bad agent or is he really not "cornerstone" good? He signed for 5.5m long term last summer. Hardly cornerstone money.

A couple weeks ago Pronman (ESPN/The Athletic) ranked Parayko #29 in the Top 100 NHL players under 25. That's ahead of players like Dougie Hamilton, Trouba, Slavin, Rielly...
$5.5M for a 24 yr old D man isn't bad and 3 of those 5 years are RFA it looks like. His AAV ranks 25th for D men (all ages).
So yes, the package Toronto would provide is way short of what it would take to have the Blues let Parayko go.
