They’re basically the same age but Hronek makes a lot less and has RFA control after this season. I think the market for Provorov is a lot weaker as Hronek is also a RHD and they usually go for a premium. 20th overall straight up should get the job done.

They can get a forward equal to Garland in free agency and save that pick as well.</div></div>
Who in FA is as good/young as Garland? I think he fits the Hawks timeline really well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Samsoc22</b></div><div>You’re right on everything except Philly is in a cap crunch. Once FA’s leave they will start to actively take in back contracts for picks lol they will have around $15M without trading anyone. Once Hayes goes that will probably open up another $5M so no cap crunch. They will probably trade Provy but not cause of cap reasons and I don’t see them giving up a third for it either. I think he’s worth at least a 1st, probably more if they retain on him</div></div>
I should rephrase… they might have a lot of space, but a lot of bloated contracts. Instead of paying to dump DeAngelo or Risto, they might as well get future assets for a guy who hasn’t lived up to his reputation the last couple years and won’t fit their future timeline. The additional Third might be unnecessary, as you said.

Depends on the demand for garland maybe. I think Canucks might want to limit their off season cap hit and increase flexibility to make other moves. Getting one of garland or boeser off the books will help a lot but I think they’d prefer to keep boeser around. I still think hawks might look at a guy like garland for a late second (TB, NYR) or even their own third. Lots of picks to make noise

20th overall for provorov is fine i think. The third is a bit of a balancing but take it or leave it I guess. He makes a lot and Philly is in a cap crunch. Sanheim is going to pick up the slack next year. A change of scenery would be good for Provirov I think.

It would be a huge mistake to go all in right away. This team is about establishing some pieces to support Bedard without mortgaging the future. You have young guys like Riechel and Korchinski who will eventually develop into the core of the team as well. Patience is really key for Chicago if they don’t want to end up like Buffalo 2015-2022

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MoreHitzSeider</b></div><div>Lindstrom stinks and is currently looking for a team in Sweden to play for next season. Edvinsson is out 4-6 months after shoulder surgery but he'll slot in LD eventually. Chiarot will be playing RD when Edvinsson returns. There's no room for Aho in Detroit.
Walman plays with Seider. Chiarot began playing the season with Seider but the 2 didn't mesh. Walman fits Seider like a glove and Seider started racking up the points immediately after pairing with him.
Edvinsson's injury gives Johansson an opportunity and Yzerman will give him a chance in training camp to see where he's at. McIsaac might even get a look for 7D.</div></div>
I mispoke. I meant Chiarot-Maatta, not Wallman. Looks like Detroit has a solid top 4 and then a few young guys vying for spots. I think a guy like Aho can push the pace a little and make some of the younger guys work harder to earn that spot. Not everyone can come in and be a superstar or even play at a solid NHL level (expecting Edvinsson to walk in as a rookie after a lengthy injury is wishful thinking). One year under a mill, even if he gets pushed out of the lineup, Aho is a very valuable asset other teams would lineup for. Again like I said, a good stop gap for Detroit who is looking to make an actual playoff push this year, not just "develop" for another season

Oilers save $2M for next season by making that move and get a solid bottom 6 player without giving up much. Seems like a win to me.

Why would the Hawks dump Bailey he has 1 year left at $5M and they're struggling to hit the floor. If he plays decently, you retain half and trade him for a third or a fourth. It's a very worthwhile proposition for a basement team

Looks like it's just Wallman, Chiarot, and Maatta right now. I'd imagine Edvinsson gets another year in the AHL (to start at least) and Aho is a really good PP stop gap. Running 4LD and 2RD isn't the end of the world (most teams do this anyways) plus, looks like Wallman and Chiarot played some serious minutes together last year (unless I'm mistaken). Bottom pair of Aho-Lindstrom is most likely good

Sure, but that's why they're getting paid for him while also dumping off a bad contract. Zadina is the same age but hasn't found a role in Detroit. Selling high on Aho and getting rid of Clutterbuck is a worthwhile deal to take a big swing on Zadina. I don't see Aho coming back with 4 solid D anyways.

A QO is only for one year, so yeah, a lot of guys take less than their QO for term. He had a bad year and has never shown he can really be the number one driving offensive force on a line. He finished 4th on the Sens in points and goals, is that not concerning?

Kings Playoff Push
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>krakowitz</b></div><div>And how do you know he still has high value? He's played 8 of Ontario's 17 games this year, and played 35 games all of last year. He can't stay on the ice, and when he does, it's not like he's dominating. He's not playing poorly, but it's not what you'd expect from a 21 year old 5th overall pick. To say that he still has high value but the value of Provorov and Hart is so diminished is just inconsistent.</div></div>
This is like a common fallacy in most sports circles that people go "first round pick" as an absolute value. He was a top 10 pick less than 3 years ago, he still has clear value. He's not worth a "top 10 value" anymore, but if he was a 25th overall pick, people wouldn't be so reactionary about him. Good example: look at what Alex Nylander got in a trade after being pretty good in the AHL and bad in the NHL. Turcotte arguably has better stats than he did, as well.
Philly is totally hamstrung on the blue line with their contracts, Provorov alone is likely not worth more than an early 2nd at this stage with his money. Hart as well is playing well, but 2 years ago he was arguably the worst goalie in the league and not great last year at all. I'd argue this deal is much more risky from LA's side than Philly's side in the end.
