You know when putting a comment like that, you're almost daring people to vote no, it's an ELC, of course the contract is fine but when people start throwing fits at the no votes, it's probably fun to trigger them a bit

2023-2024 NHL Discussion Thread #5: The Final Stretch
My playoff predictions for round 1 are a bit boring since it's all the 1 and 2 seeds winning however, after that it gets interesting
Round 2:
Florida over Boston in 6
Carolina over NYR in 6
Winnipeg over Dallas in 7
Edmonton over Vancouver in 7
Round 3:
Carolina over Florida in 6
Winnipeg over Edmonton in 6
Winnipeg over Carolina in 7

Team is being sold and moved so yes, all players, prospects and picks will be owned by Utah now, I see no reason for players wanting out, they'll have a better arena and owner than in Arizona

I mean, 6/8 playoff series would be the same in a 1v8 format, considering how the current format is more interesting rivalry wise, it makes sense to keep it

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>aadoyle</b></div><div>Will say this Coyotes owner Meruelo should be ashamed of himself for not being there the final night of hockey in ARI
I hope he does not bring a team back or get an arena in 5 years and instead gives the rights to someone else (Suns Owner)
He failed them and after all the embarrassing stories with money 0 trust in him</div></div>
Like the Thrashers before them, ownership failed to Yotes and now the team will move. Meruelo was a problem, he should not get a 2nd chance at a team, Arizona should though, like Atlanta, they have the fans and metro area to have a successful team, it will depends on ownership and a good arena but they can be a good spot

You know, what’s funny is when talking to my dad yesterday, I said there’s a real shot WC2 gets decided by a tie game empty net goal… and it did, Philly basically handed the Caps the spot (Tbf, the Detroit game went to overtime at about the same time, they couldn’t have know they were eliminated)

Pens aren’t out yet, they have tiebreaker over Detroit and Washington, if Detroit and Washington lose in OT, Pittsburgh could still make it

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_Habs_fan</b></div><div>Well, Washington-Philly will decide a lot, Washington is win and in, Philly I believe would pass Washington off of 4th tiebreaker with a regulation win leaving the door open for Detroit, Pittsburgh and maybe Philly to get the spot</div></div>
Just to point out how close this could become
Washington 89 points- 2 points in any fashion gets them WC2, 1 point would mean they'd need to hope Detroit loses in any fashion and Pittsburgh loses in any fashion (Washington has tiebreaker over Detroit, Pittsburgh has tiebreaker over Washington), a regulation loss would mean Philly passes them and eliminates Washington
Detroit 89 points- Detroit must get at least a point to keep their hopes alive, however, Detroit would lose tiebreaker vs Philly, Pittsburgh and Washington. So they would either need a win and a Washington loss in any fashion, OR 1 point, a Washington regulation loss and a Pittsburgh loss in any fashion
Pittsburgh 88 points- Pittsburgh has the best RW (1st tiebreaker) so a win in any fashion and Detroit + Washington loss in any fashion gets them WC2, OR 1 point and a Washington + Detroit regulation loss would get them WC2
Philadelphia 87 points- Their only shot at the playoffs is beating Washington in regulation, Detroit losing in regulation and Pittsburgh losing in regulation

Lots of game with packed meaning tonight, Bruins-Caps (Bruins can clinch the Atlantic, Caps need the 2 points to stay at WC2), Pens-Preds (Pens need the 2 points to keep their chances up, Preds can be guaranteed to be WC1 in the west), NYI can clinch with 2 points/multiple other teams dropping points, Detroit needs a win, Rangers can clinch the Metro, East and President's, Canucks with an Oilers loss can clinch the Pacific

Vorobyov turned 27 on January 5, 2024. But <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/forums/thread/813310">Vorobyov's rights were traded </a> on March 6th as part of Hanifin deal (after he turned 27). Seems like a decent AHLer, he’s 26 so he likely will not grow much, I’m surprised he played for the university of Ottawa’s hockey program because their program is not that good (like most Canadian university hockey programs)
