What the kids these days call a Big Oof
I'll bet anything SJ ownership said they wanted out of the contract with as little financial pain as possible. Which is something no one would know. The return was paltry but the ownership is saving tens of millions. Karlsson was still owed $39m.

Price on LTIR trade Allen for rhd Hill could be serviceable

Habs Yotes Deals to finish off off-season
I don’t think Drouin is really worth that much. Think the pick isn’t needed or rather high for my liking.

Fair enough for Montreal.
Get a 3rd for Drouin without the need to retain, and allows us to move Allen for decent value while still keeping Primeau in Laval.

Unless MSL is in love with the idea of salvaging Drouin, I would think the Habs should make this trade. Personally, I'd prefer instead to have the pick(s) come from Montreal and trade Hoffman instead.

Hoffman and EK65 make that a no-go

No idea how to feel
A little too much cap retention and not enough of a return (C-level-prospects and a 3rd), but overall glad with the decision to trade out Burns. I imagine Grier didn't have much leverage with only DAL CAR and a unrealistic destination (something like TB) as the only options.

I don't like it but since there's not really much cap coming back and the retention is moderate it shows Grier valued opening up cap more than anything else

What are we doing pain
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AllJonedOut</b></div><div>I don’t mind the kunin deal. Realistically kunin fits what we need. He’s only 8 months older than John. He has decent upside(last two years before this one was on a 20 goal 40+ point trajectory). He is also right handed. Something we don’t have a lot of.
The picks are what they are realistically. I’m not a nhl scout and my judgment on players is based off the two sentence reviews I read. The trade down imo was a awesome deal. Allowed us to add 2 2nd round talents from a draft that was pretty deep in that area. Hopefully the magic beans turn out.</div></div>
Kunin was a fantastic pickup, adds grit and toughness to the 3rd line and gives Bordeleau some protection while also still being decent offensively. Feel his addition spells the end to Labanc.

I think you guys did very well with Bystedt and Havelid, both of those guys will be studs and probably hit the top 50 NHL prospect lists in about a year or two. I’m not as familiar with Lund, tho.
Missed opportunity passing on Geekie, he’s going to be a superstar. Coyotes went out and did their thing last night, I was hoping the Wings took him at #8.

1st and Kniazev are good pieces but Arizona would want another good prospect. I’d imagine they would ask for Eklund, which is absolutely not on the table. The only other prospect I’d be okay with giving up would be Weisblatt and that doesn’t get it done

I genuinely believe that Kane's contract coming off the books could speed up the Sharks' rebuild by a year or two, pretty pumped for this.

Wonder if any of the scouts would get to talk to Kane, coach, or his teammates in the AHL. Kane is a good NHL player and someone that is exactly what Nashville needs on the ice. Off the ice, it’s like handling a live hand grenade with the pin pulled.

I think we're covered at that tbh. Especially if Hertl resigns. Bord and Robins look good.

As bad as an idea of trading for Kane is, it’s still better than 90% of the Debrusk offers on here.
But no, i don’t touch Kane with a 10 ft pole.

Debrusk for Kane
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AllJonedOut</b></div><div>My fellow sharks fan put its pretty well. A lot of the problems are off the ice. There are some locker room issues for sure, but you have to think Evander knows this is his get his crap together moment. I think back to when he was acquired to SJ. We had a hell of a leadership group. Led by pavs who was a no nonsense leader. Backed up by jumbo, and all the other guys who are there now and more. Very similar to BOS. If he goes anywhere. It’s to BOS.
Edit: If he’s can’t find his crap. You either buy him out or put him in minors and have a 2ish mil dead cap(could be a lot worse)</div></div>
ya his marriage was a disaster and who knows his gambling addiction could come from an unhappy home life his way of curing his depression or whatever emotion he feels towards his relationship could be gambling. all i hope on boston or not is he fixes his life the guy was one hell of a hockey player! If this trade was to happen i know sweeney would definitely consult with bergy first about it and make sure he is okay with taking on that extra mentorship role for kane to lead him in the right direction. So if all goes to plan and kane fix's his life up i'd be pumped because a line of hall, coyle, kane would be nasty. that line contains speed, strength, physicality and grit. I couldn't imagine what teams would do having to deal with marchy, kane and frederic's trash talk all night, i like that kane will fight too not often you see high caliber players take on even the leagues finest fighters like him
