Why would NSH offer up Trenin and Ingram to be selected in expansion

Those 2 sides of the same coin should lead you to your answer about Duchene, however if not you can go back and look at the history of cap dumps and extrapolate as long as you understand its not a linear scaling model</div></div>
Duchene still has value, hes not Jeff Skinner
Hes overpaid and has term, but its absurd for an expansion team looking for multiple firsts
Regardless Johansen is the one they will try and move

Not sure any team has paid multiple firsts to get rid of a player
Seattle would not turn down a top6 player plus a first
Especially if they believe in his play driving numbers
His production hasn't faired well but most of his ice time last season was alongside Brad Richardson, Nick Cousins, and Erik Haula

Lots of moves for fun
I'd be against trading Farrance plus a first for Bertuzzi
I dont see Bertuzzi carrying a line in NSH.
Potential for a deep draft next year, first round pick could be essential for NSH building a prospect pool, losing farrance would be the best D prospect in their currently limited pool
Especially while Ekholm is without an extension

Pre-Expansion with expected re-signings
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>Seems about right to me. I would even go ahead and throw Carrier in a protected slot considering how much Hynes relied on him down the stretch and in the playoffs -- such a good contract too if he can replicate that play next season.
I don't think it would be a big loss to lose Sissons and his contract, so I wouldn't bother protecting him -- even though I like him and what he brings.
To me, if you want to protect those young guys that you have, then the move is to expose Jarnkrok. I don't see how he wouldn't be selected if left unprotected. Otherwise, I think SEA would be choosing between Ingram, Johansen/Duchene + incentives, or Sissons. Although, I suppose they could select a guy like Cousins/Grimaldi with the intention of trading them for picks at the deadline.
All in all, I feel like NSH is one of the hardest teams to get a handle on this expansion draft -- so many different directions NSH and SEA could go!</div></div>
Yeah Carrier has a great contract. He will be 25 when season starts with just over 20 games of NHL experience. Im sure Seattle with have better options to choose from on D. Plus NSH has a handful of defensemen the same age or younger with same play style (Davies, Farrance, Allard).
I think Poile will opt to protect Sissons bc of the contract. But I believe he can be replaced by Cousins/Parsinnen or even Herd winger making C transition

Trades
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>I think you misread part of it -- in this scenario, Jarnkrok gets picked up by SEA (not Allard) and Allard gets traded along with a pick to MTL for Chiarot. I've seen quite a few Chiarot trades recently on here, so I thought I'd take a stab at it. Not sure it's enough, but he could also be selected by SEA so maybe they move him for less because of that? He just seems like a guy Hynes would like -- experienced and has size. I wouldn't go crazy in trying to acquire him though.
I agree on Cousins -- if NSH wanted to retain on his contract, I think they could get a decent return from a team like TBL or TOR too.</div></div>
The description reads "MTL trade - instead of losing him to SEA"
Which sounds like you are trading away Allard so he will not be selected in expansion

I would keep Granlund as a Center, and you definitely cant have Tomasino on 4th line. Keep the Herd intact
If you want Duchene as a Center, I would suggest the following;
Forsberg - Johansen - Kunin
Jarnkrok - Duchene - Tolvanen
Cousins/Jeannot - Granlund - Tomasino
Trenin - Sissons - Cousins/Jeannot
And Carrier in the lineup on D

Filip Fosberg to Toronto
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MauriceArthur15</b></div><div>He literally commented on Viktor Ardvinsson post that he doesn't like the move and you mention a presser that was before the Ardvinsson trade.
Kerfoot is bottom 6 player lol. How is it he scored 6 point in 6 playoff games the second he moved to the 2nd line? He just plays a bottom 6 role in Toronto because this years team was deep.
Abruzzese is undersized forward but that's where the NHL is heading. its really dissapointing you're pointing out undersized as an attribute to a player's value. Brayden Point, Caulfield, Robertson,Gallagher, Gaudreau are all players with similar heights or smaller. Height doesn't diminish value anymore. Also as 20 yr old he was over ppg in College at a top men's hockey program that produced Adam Fox, and more. Its rare you see player dominate like that at his age. He unanimously a top 50-75 prospect in the NHL currently. How is that not an A-level prospect?
Its a deep class. Its not like this year, or 2017. In deep classes you have value in the 25-32 range. Case and point 2015.
Lastly, I doubt many of you watch the Leafs or its prospects. If they did you would've known about Kerfoot offensive upside, more about Abruzzese or even about Forsberg injury concerns.</div></div>
Forsberg commented that hes not liking the pic. Hes obviously going to voice his displeasure when his best friend/fellow suede is traded away. It doesnt mean he wants out or would leave NSH.
Kerfoot had a good playoff but I dont think any team wants him in their top 6. He also benefited from playing with a hot Nylander.
Abruzzese size doesn't hurt his value. Im a big advocate for results over size, hes an undersized player and thats just who he is. I watched him a lot this year, he has the skill and IQ to take the next steps as an A level prospect. He still needs another year of production in college which hes on pace to do.
I live in the GTA, watch a lot of Toronto games. Work for company that handles college and CHL analytics.
If you view Forsberg as an injury-riddled rental might not be the best guy to trade for

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>MauriceArthur15</b></div><div>It’s evident Filip Forsberg is disgruntled with the direction of Nashville. You get back an A-tier prospect is Nick Abruzzese, Kerfoot who had a strong playoffs and 2022 1st which is a deep class. More than fair for 1yr of Forsberg who hasn’t played a full season since 2016-17. There would be better packages as teams would overpay but the value is fair.</div></div>
Aside from a thumbs down emoji Forsberg is not disgruntled, he mentioned his interested in signing a long term deal with NSH at seasons end.
Kerfoot is another bottom 6 forward, NSH has way too many of
Abruzzese undersized forward with offensive upside, intriguing but wouldn't call an A prospect
First round pick would be late, at least low 20s
Also you just had 4 people say NSH would decline, value isn't there, Toronto doesn't have to trade for forsberg so perhaps look at some FAs

Toronto isn’t giving up the farm for a player with 1 yr left. EK65 wasn’t even traded for a Sandin/Robertson level prospect. It was literally Josh Norris, a 2020 1st and 2019 2nd. You warrant that kind of return</div></div>
NSH would get more without retaining or taking on a Kerfoot so why would they do this?

Poiles last kick at the can
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>villenash</b></div><div>I think attaching Pitlick + 2nd/3rd should be enough to have a then to take on Johansen. He would be their best center out of those available most likely. I have a feeling SEA will go another direction though and NSH is stuck with the both of them.
This team would be a contender if that second line works out. A lot to ask from a rookie and an injury-riddled vet though.</div></div>
Davies, Allard, Pitlick, Ingram could all be attached to a Johansen/Duchene as a sweetener.
However, I dont think either has to go in expansion and I would hate to see it be at the expense of a 1 or 2. Losing one doesnt help the team get any better and if the entire unit continues to decline a top pick could cost NSH a good prospect (something they do not have many of)

I dont think Seattle will be turning down top6 forwards
Majority of teams will be protecting 7F-3D-1G
Johansen/Duchene havent produced in NSH last two seasons but they also dont play with much. Majority of Duchene season was played alongside Cousins, Haula, Richardson (not ideal). Johansen was with Arvidsson who has completely fallen off in the scoring department.
Johansen is only 28, 4 years left at 8mil. He could rebound if Seattle finds scoring threats.
NSH is not a team that can afford giving away blue chip prospects, Johansen would fit their need for a top6 center
Other options would be Jarnkrok/Sissons who would only add to their bottom 6 forward group.

And if they dont take him, NSH wouldn't sign Granlund (in this scenario) leaving 18mil

They have Ellis Fabbro Carrier Benning as their RHD
It doesnt help them get younger or free up cap space, and it technically means Myers makes 8mil
