Did not see that and that makes the trade fair. But however, I'd rather see them targeting a player who can do more than just shoot.
But the actual trade is fair.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NMAvsFan</b></div><div>Yeah, it's fair to say that a guy like Nylander is probably overvalued. I mean, he puts up a lot of points and scores goals which does have value but he isn't a "go-to-the-corners" kind of player. But other people on this site are going to undervalue Toews because he plays with Makar (who, let's face it, can make a decent partner look like an All Star. Kane doesn't score like he used to but Tarasenko would be interesting.</div></div>
Why do Avs need "go-to-the-corners"-players? Nylander is a point scoring-machine and would have been a X-factor against Seattle. And in fact, he is one of the best around the net in small areas and the most consistent player of Torontos top 4 in the playoffs the last years. A great fit for how Bednar like his team to play. The issue that have been noticed above is that Leafs can use him as their own rental, and don't have to move him.

Well, I can afford him as you can se above with a fine margin and as I wrote above, maybe an overpay but why not go for it again? Then they can decide who of Nylander, Toews, Byram, Girard they need to get rid of

If they aren't trading the first-rounder for a player, they should probably do that trade. Hoping the first-rounder is a high one and at least one 2nd rounder a low pick.

Time for rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>tonyhzs</b></div><div>The only reasonable trade here is Florida. The rest of these are so overvalued in Winnipeg's favor. That LA trade might be even more brutal than Byfield and Clark for Hellebuyck that I saw a few days ago.
Try Turcotte and a 2nd with Petersen for Hellebuyck.</div></div>
Look at it from LA side
- At RD they already have Doughty, Roy, Clarke, Walker next season. Do they need Durzi and Spence, no. Is Durzi and Spence good players long term? Probably, but Durzi's time in LA won't be long if Clarke take the next step, and I believe he will do that already next season. He will take Durzi's minutes.
- They will get rid of Petersons contract, one of the worst goalie-contract in the league. Getting Hellebuyck, top 5 goalie in the world the last 7-8 years for 1M more, thats a huge upgrade.
- LA is in a big win-mode now when they have Byfield and Clarke at ELC.
- The only losses long term for LA are Spence and Turcotte, but in my opinion they aren't ready to play big minutes for LA and as I wrote above, LA is in a win-mode now and should go for it.
That my opinions and explanation about the trade. If you disagree, thats fine.

Do they really that fast? You saw the problem without a solid 2C this year. They must give up something good to get something good in return.

Time for rebuild
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>ohmyjlord</b></div><div>Who says no ? The Habs...the Habs say no, over and over again.
WPG fans need to understand this when it comes to Dach (and I'm saying that with only good intentions). Dach was acquired at the price of a very popular player within the Habs fanbase, who was flipped for the 13th overall pick. He started off slowly, adjusting to his new environnement, but before his injury, he was playing over 20 minutes per night, producing at a pace of 0.71 pts/g since January 1st...which is more than Dubois himself through the same period (0.64).
Now, I'm not saying Dach is better than Dubois because of that. But he's two years younger, and under contract for the next 3 seasons at $3.362m. He's a bargain for the talent he has. Dubois' next contract should be around $8.0m per...which is more than twice what Dach will be making in the next 3 seasons. Dubois is good, I like him. But he's not TWICE the player that Dach is. In fact, both could have very similar production as early as next year.
That's why the Habs aren't even considering making that swap. They know what they have in Dach. He's proved he can be a good fit, either on Suzuki's wing, or behind him as a 2nd line center. They're not gonna move him for Dubois (who they could wait for a year) for similar production, and twice the price. It wouldn't make sense on paper, on the ice, nor the financial structure of the team.</div></div>
Yeah, you're probably right at every point here. I'm not a Jets fan but I can agree that I probably are underestimating Dach. He is good but not close to Dubios right now in my opinion, but his contract is very valuable and the Habs don't need to rush to get Dubois. They know they will get him in two season so give Dach away will make no sense. My bad on that one.
The Jets will probably need to find another team if they want something in return for PLD.

I don't like to idea of trading away Toews but I guess it's a must to get a really good 2C. I would tho prefer to let Girard go instead.

Yeah, they will never do a one-for-one-trade with Sammy G. My thoughts is that they already are loaded at C and maybe need another top 4 D, so if the Avs can add a little extra I don't see the trade as impossible.
