<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Garak</b></div><div>In regards to Kaiser, I figure between him, Korch, and Vlasic, he will become the odd man out to make room for younger players and/or 5-7 dmen with more affordable AAV's. He has the tools to be a top 4 dman and will likely price himself out. If one of our other LHD seems to be panning out, he will likely be the one that gets dangled on the trade block, IMO.
Definitely not sleeping on Kantserov, though. I'm well aware of his upside, been watching a decent amount of Metallurg games. Side note, I love their orange alternates and I wish I could find somewhere to buy one. But, I just didn't want to add too many players and I also wanted to include our possible 1st round picks for the next two drafts. I also wouldn't be surprised if he signs for an extra year or two in the KHL beyond the 24-25 season.
Also, this roster for that season isn't possible anyway, because we need to hit the floor. So, just keeping it simple while illustrating the possibilities.</div></div>
Allan is less than a year younger than Kaiser so non consequential IMO. Hawks should have no issue keeping Vlasic, Korchinski and Kaiser I would be more concerned personally with Allan, Phillips or Del Mastro outplaying any of those 3 to earn a spot, or conversely, they have Allan and Phillips playing on the right side in Rockford so maybe one of those guys ends up making it to the NHL on the right.
Needless to say, just look at the cap space you have here, they haven't even hit the cap floor. Fast forward one more year, Murphy falls off the books and there's $50M in cap space to sign Korchinski, Kaiser and Bedard (let's call that $20M more) and then the lesser guys like Commesso, Dach, Allan and Ludwinski assuming they all make it (let's call that $10M combined). That's $30M of $50M available. Point is, cap is not an issue. We need Rinzel and one of Philips or Allan to be able to play on the right for everything to pan out though.
I still think Kurashev is on this team as well. He's a solid 3rd liner and going to bring experience to this team a couple years from now.
Needless to say, it's exciting to see this team develop and to do so with so many prospects available to them in a couple more years. Organically build 90% of the team and fill in a couple gaps with vets with plenty of cap space to play with.

What happened to Kaiser?
Also, don't sleep on Roman Kantserov, has top 6 potential. Gavin Hayes may pan out as a bottom 6 as well.

Completely understand that. It's a lose, lose trade. Hawks have about 3 lines full of 4th line guys. No need to acquire another one

Getting desperate
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Xspyrit</b></div><div>ok... but do you realize that it was 6 years ago and he had 10 NHL games of experience before that season with Chicago? No matter how bad you think he was, 0.908 SV% is not like disastrous or anything
That said, he has been excellent in Ottawa, 0.912 SV% and a 14.4 GSAA behind a less than ideal team defense
A Blackhawks fan is proposing here, I am stating reasons why Ottawa doesn't want to do that.
The hope is that Dorion didn't screw up the relation with Pinto and that they will sign him (but when? That situation should be resolved by now) and that they will move Kubalik to make space. If it comes down to trading Pinto, then picks/prospects might be the way they will have to go, because it would mean they are keeping Kubalik and the roster/cap space is full.</div></div>
Dorion's move here is the single most interesting thing (outside of the Blackhawks...aka...Bedard organization...admitting my bias) in the NHL. He's got a few terrible options and no good option. No matter the move it's a bad one. So pick the least bad and just F'ing doing it. He's hoping teams will now see Kubalik or Mathier in a different light than they did previously, BUT from the outside looking in...it doesn't appear they do or it would have happened already. PLUS, he's not getting fair value for Pinto...or THAT would have happened already. So which medicine does he take? Dump Kubalik to which he literally said that he felt he got a decent return for Debrincat with? Dump Mathieu (which I'm not in favor of) and pay the price being asked? Or trade Pinto with the upside/downside risks associated.
Hawks were forced to trade away a 21 year old that scored 35 points in 78 games...kinda sounds similar to Pinto. That was just to get rid of 1 year of Bickell. Hawks fans know the situation you're in because we've been living that life since 2016. TRUE the years before that were fun so I can't complain.

I guess I just disagree on the magnitude in which you're suggesting. "by far"...I'm not so sure "by far" is appropriate. I will agree he's better than those pieces individually, but this CERTIANLY doesn't sound desperate to me, which was my point. Does he have more value than TRad. I'd agree. I'm not agreeing that Ryan Greene is that delta. We really like him as a prospect. But again, to the biggest point no one's talking about. Hawks are not desperate. The Hawks are looking to take advantage of other team's mistakes. We're not attempting to give other teams good deals. We're trying to make our team better and if the other team loses (for example) a Taylor Hall for (2) AHLers...sorry, not sorry, never going to be sorry...fix your house Dorion.

Hawks decline and maybe counter with Kuzy (no retention) and Washington's unprotected '24 1st for future considerations. No chance the Hawks pay anything to acquire him. I'm not even sure the Hawks would want him around Bedard at all.

Hawks unlikely to accept. Greene is a solid prospect, Raddysh also scored 20 goals last season like Pinto and had 2 more points than Pinto and using a retention slot on mrazek is simply not worth it.

Tank for Celebrini
Obviously the Hawks aren't going to send these guys down to tank as the experience in the NHL is as much if not more important than getting another top 2 pick. That said, Hawks will be a bottom 5 team and still have relatively good odds to draft in the top 2, almost as good if they were the 4th worst or 3rd worst team.

For sure. From a marketing standpoint, I could see Faulkner pushing hard for KD to have a SERIOUS roster put together in time for the 26-27 centennial season. One way or another, they will likely be marketing that season heavily.

Chicago easily declines. 2 years of LD to a rebuilding team is not worth top prospects Moore and Nazar, plus a top 5 lottery pick in 2024, plus a late 2025 1st round pick, plus a solid defesive player in Murphy. Way off here for Chicago.

Dickinson outscored Dvorak last season. He also makes about $1.7m less this upcoming season.
Dvorak has proven to be a 30-35 point 3rd line centre who is overpaid by $1.5m - 2m per season for the next two years.
DeSmith is an average at best backup who the Hawks don’t have a need or spot for in their organization.
The only team benefiting from this proposal is the Canadiens who will free up $3.5m in cap space this season and $4.45m next season. In order to acquire that cap space, it is Montreal who should be sending the picks to Chicago, not the other way around.

Dvorak Chicago native
There's probably an equal chance that the Hawks trade Bedard to Montreal as there is of this trade happening. Meaning no chance at all. Two 2nd rounders and Dickinson for Dvorak and DeSmith? That is pure fantasy. Forgetting that the Hawks DON'T NEED either player, Neither of those guys are worth anything close to a 2nd. Dvorak returns nothing. He takes a pick attached to dump. DeSmith might get a late round pick back, but not from the Hawks. Hawks happily keep Dickinson and their two picks.

I could go on and on but people care maybe you don't but some do.</div></div>
Playing for a hometown is a perk for a lot of players, but you have to keep in mind this is a business above all else. Dvorak doesn't have a say in where he is traded to and Chicago has enough vets to still suck but give the young guys experience. The amount of players playing in their hometowns is FAR outweighed by players playing elsewhere. It's a good story when it happens, but certainly isn't the basis for a trade.
