Rebuild
We aren't getting Drai for an offer sheet. Also, Shattenkirk is not worth that money at all. People hate Ghost because he isn't a shutdown defender I could only imagine what they would complain about if we signed Shatty especially at that price. Why would you put Faulk on the bottom pair. In this case it should be Prov/Faulk, Ghost/Gudas, and Hagg/Shatty. Not worth it... Plus I odn't see MTL doing that deal, or ARZ, or CHI...

Rebuild
A team rebuilding does not give away the assets you have here to get a player like Draisaitl. While he is a very good player, to give up 2 1sts and 2 2nds, plus the massive cap hit, may be a mistake. Look at what the Leafs did with Kessel. They never expected to be that bad, but stuff happens. All it would take is an injury or two and the flyers are bottom dwellers and EDM gets a top pick...

Like I said I really like Carlson/Johansson but this roster is extremely weak up front and we need that #2 pick down the middle after next year more than we need Johansson/Carlson. This team is good enough to be a WC1/2 team and always will be unless we get stronger at center to compete with WSH/PIT/NYR.

17/18 - The Future is Bright!
I think the personal here are probably pretty much spot on though I do think one of Patrick (or Hischer) and Lindblom will make the team (I don't see Lyubimov back unless it's in the AHL as he's waiver exempt still so can be called up when needed).
I 100% don't see Ghost signing a 3 year deal though. That would be terrible GM-ing as it leaves him a UFA at the earliest possibility (27 years old). He'll sign either a 2 year bridge so we have a year of RFA left for Hextall to negotiate the long extension or he'll get 6+ years similar to Zaitsev and Klingberg.

Don't get me wrong, Gaudreau could slide on the top line, as we lack dynamic top line talent. I would be shocked if Hextall pulled a deal of this magnitude after he has preached patience and building from within. Sanheim and Myers are blue chip prospects who haven't even played in the NHL yet. Add in the 1st/2nd and I think it is too much for Johnny Hockey.</div></div>
I don't think this deal happens either, but again it's not just for Johnny Hockey. The OP also included a 26 year old top pairing Dman on a sweetheart contract who goes by the name of TJ Brodie.</div></div>
Why give up two guys who have top pair potential on ELCs when they have the chance to draft a dynamic forward too? It's not like the Flyers completely lack guys that can play on the top line. Plus, with Myers and Gudas gone, the Flyers would have no right handed Dmen and that same situation led us to trade JvR for Luke Schenn.

someone doesn't understand sarcasm. And Nilsson is better than Neuvirth is why. I also don't know how you cna say you'd rather go with Stolarz as the starter and not have a capable backup like Nilsson...

Gaudreau / Brodie Trades
Canes get the best player in the deal locked up long term to reasonable money for what he brings. He's 23 years old and an exciting star who will not only win games but put butts in the seats.
That alone puts it a far cry from being "terrible".
Hanifin may be available, but only for a young offensively dynamic forward? There he is.
Kylington is no slouch either. Not many Dmen play their 18 and 19 year old seasons in the AHL and put up numbers like he did, playing in all situations.
Dropping the first rounders out is no big deal.

Pressuring TB with Drouin offer sheet + Chuky trade at Expansion draft
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>wabit</b></div><div><div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Blazingbat11</b></div><div>
I'll swap Davidson with Beaulieu. I think you still have to have 2 d-man going back to MIN or they say no deal, since they could still lose one one in the expansion draft. And Emelin at a $3mil cap hit is a lot more desirable.</div></div>
Wild have in this scenario Scandella, Beaulieu, Emlin, Olofsson, Reilly, Suter as LHD. Protect Dumba, Spurgeon, and Suter and lose Beaulieu or Scandella to Vegas and keep the other one for 2nd pairing. Olofsson is ready for 3rd pairing (Reilly is 1st callup and is getting close to NHL ready) and would be ~$2m cheaper than Emelin. That $2m goes a long ways in resigning the rest of the team's RFAs.</div></div>
I'd rather plug either Scandella or Dumba into the deal instead of Brodin. We'd probably have to add a little bit more if it was Scandy but I would be ok with that. Dumba has been said to have the highest trade value of the 3 and personally, I would rather move him than Brodin. I agree though that Emelin serves no real purpose for us. We have plenty of LHD and would have Granlund, Nino, and Chucky to re-sign for RFAs this summer. An extra $2+ million in space is incredibly valuable to us at this point even before picking up Galchenyuk.

Flyers Panthers Trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>NateElder12</b></div><div>As a Flyers fan this is completely unfair. You're offering them Jake for Huberdeau which they say no. Reimer is their future goalie and you can't really trade rights to UFAs. You can trade the player right now to them and they'd have first negotiating rights but that doesn't happen when they can just deal with them July 1st.</div></div>
I mispoke to say rights to UFA's I guess I meant first chance at, because officially the contracts do not expire until free agency begins, July 1st. Your right this does not happen much anymore, but there is no reason it couldn't happen and with the addition of Vegas, I think their will be a lack of Bottom 6 Forwards, Top 6 D, and Depth players, available compared to usual which might make teams make deals like this. Plus MDZ is potential top 4 D man at his best and younger than most free agents available.
I disagree that Florida thinks that Reimer is truly there future goalie. NHL starting goalies make more than 3.4 million a year for 5 yrs, not to mention they still have Luongo signed to a year longer than Reimer. I see Reimer as a good tandem goalie (1-A) and one of the better backups in the league. The Panthers will ride Luongo and are keeping Reimer as insurance. Overall these two are stop gaps until the Panthers develop a better goalie, albeit very good stopgaps.
As for Huberdeau it's an interesting situation because he only played 31 games this season due to injury, and is set for a big raise in his new contract. Your right that the deal may not be fair and I did say it might take more to pry Huberdeau away. I'm just unsure to how much more that would be, and I think this would be a decent start to the trade talks though. The Panthers may want a goalie prospect which the Flyers have quite a few of at the moment. I don't think the Flyers give up a prospect D-man because Florida already has a pretty solid group of young D-men

no i think he is right. Why in the world would the Avs assume Giroux's and Mac's contract? Giroux had a disappointing season and Landy is younger and is cheaper. Doesn't make a lot of sense for the Avs to do this deal.
