Paryko
As much as I’d love for Leafs to get Parayko, Blues main reason to consider moving him is to free up space for Pietrangelo, and this trade doesn’t do that. Most likely would need a third team, one who needs goaltending, has cheap assets, and cap space

Didn’t hear he actually asked to move to his off wing but playing him there makes sense. He played centre prior to being drafted though

Nylander is a RW or C. He isn't a LW. Spezza does not have it in him to play 2nd line at this point in his career.</div></div>
Agree they’re not likely moving Spezza up to the second line but if you haven’t noticed, Keefe moved Nylander to his off wing at least a month ago so he’s probably lining him up on left wing because that’s where Keefe has had him

So this is the team
I was hoping could move Barrie for something useful but otherwise not selling the farm and just living with what we have was smartest move I think. They aren’t one or two players away where it made sense to join the arms race happening in the East. Team just needs to play to their potential consistently and they can compete with anybody

DOES BRACCO DESERVE A CHANCE
Rather see Korskov get another, longer look. His size and shot fits in better with a bottom 6 role than Bracco would. Bracco gets a shot if Marner, Nylander, or Kappy go down

Was it the last question? Don’t think it was, he asked you if you thought your team idea beats Boston or Tampa. I asked what team lost in 4 straight last year? I forget can you remind me. Also the answer to your question is I guess the Hartford Whalers. I mean I don’t remember them getting past the first round in my lifetime before they went to Carolina, so I’ll say them

Does this satisfy the not tough enough crowd
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Idontwearhockeypants</b></div><div>This is actually quite refreshing in that your actually giving up quality assets for your returns. However, therein lies the problem. You're giving up a bit too much here in every trade. Mighty kind of you . But I doubt you aspire to be the next Peter Chiarelli.</div></div>
Fair point but I disagree that’s it’s too much in all of them. Benning is a really good defenseman, 25, right shot, good skater, far from a pushover. Johnsson has become a luxury Leafs no longer need but could slot in on McDavid’s left. Him and Kassian as his wingers for the next three years at a combined 6.6 and then they have Draisaitl and Yamamoto getting to continue to build chemistry on the second unit. Savard amd Anderson both bring styles the Leafs could use to play stronger and better defensively than they do now and Anderson around same age as Kerfoot. Barrie is mostly for the pick but Reaves will be a fan favourite and the cap hits offset. The sharks trade is steep price for two rentals but Joe could take Matthews under his wing and show him how to use his size to his offensive advantage and Dillon is a bulldozer. Gave up assets but didn’t give up Liljegren, Sandin, Robertson, Korskov, Brooks, or even Bracco. Our 2nd this year, 1st next year, are also both intact. I feel I balanced the all in now approach without leaving the cupboards bare.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>jmac490</b></div><div>Out of all of the trades, I'd probably like to see Kapanen moved for Savard in some capacity. Wouldn't mind Marleau back from the Sharks either.
I could see Kappy + Schmaltz + Mid - Late pick (maybe a 4th) for Savard
Not sure if that works out capwise</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BCAPP</b></div><div>I think kappy straight up for Savard works. Rd is more valuable than RW, but Savard is older with only one year left after this year</div></div>
Columbus is in the middle of the playoff race as well and look like they’d be more interested in Kerfoot since he can slot in down the middle. Adding SDA is to help pry Anderson from them as well. Intriguing prospect but is likely at least 4/5 years away from NHL.

I mean if true, it would have to be bringing Zadorov or Graves back as part of it. Maybe Johnson, but any of those three would be pretty big shake up for Aves back end.

Possibly, but I personally feel Andersen being shaky last few games is because they’ve been giving him easy or relaxed practices to ease his workload which is not keeping his reflexes as sharp as they need to be. He’s been starting slow and improving as game goes on

-why
Our two best defenseman are out injured and we were a below average defense when they were healthy. Also Freddie hasn’t looked sharp lately, especially to start games and I’m wondering if the lightened practice load is part of the reason why. Hard to keep your reflexes sharp if you’re not working on them all the time in practice
