Next Up Buch
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Canucks33</b></div><div>So you would ask for 1st 2024 + 1st/2nd 2025 + Willander/Lekkerimaki + Woo/Bruscewitz? I understand that you aim high but that's ridiculous.
I understand that there's no reason to move Buch and you'd be happy to keep him. But what are the odds that a) Buch wants to re-sign in STL and b) STL wants to commit big money and term to a 30 year old winger?</div></div>
I think Buch would be happy to come back to St. Louis but I agree I'm not sure the Blues want to go long term with him as he doesn't really fit our window for contention.
I think realistically if the trade is with Vancouver, the Blues will want Lekkerimaki or Willander coming back. Now if either of those 2 are in the package I don't think it's going to be a TON else like listed above but still if the Blues decide to trade Buch there will be a bidding war for him and the Blues will likely get a ton. So a teams top prospects have to be on the table in a serious discussion.

Buchnevich
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BroadwayBlueshirts</b></div><div>👉👈 is that all you want for Buch? or would we hypothetically have to pay a "your GM made a bad trade involving this player once and looked stupid so you have to pay more" tax on him?
Bc he might be the answer to getting Zib + Kreider going at ES.</div></div>
A trade back to the Rangers would be interesting. I feel like the Rangers wouldn't do it though because it would be like admitting a mistake in trading him the first time (it was for salary needs but still).
Either way the Rangers have the prospects and picks to get a deal done. I'd imagine they would want the deal centered around Kakko but his value has dipped a lot and his injury seems bad so the Blues likely don't go for him. Do you have any trade proposals?

Blues fans thoughts on the season
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BDHockey</b></div><div>I think the most surprising thing for me this season is how lucky we have gotten in terms of injuries, especially given this year. The only mentionable injury this year has been Buch, which really wasn't that bad. I do think Buch returned before he was 100% which is probably observable by his slightly late start.</div></div>
I noticed the same thing and the more I thought about it I think the more it makes sense. Blues players aren't putting themselves in positions to get injured i.e. shot blocking, fighting in the corners, etc... as much as they have in the past. I think this in part has led to some of the major inconsistencies on the team especially in games where it looks like the team could care less if they win or lose.

Agreed my thought process was Buffalo has so many prospects and not all of them can make it so they might as well turn those prospects into someone that will get them to the playoffs like Sorokin.

Calm down there...Perunovich has looked like a stud this year. Been pretty clear to anyone watching. Quinn Hughes is tiny and yet he's been arguably the best dman this year soooo I think you don't really have a point there.

Buch trade
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>dgibb10</b></div><div>The fact that Buchnevich won't cost as much as meier long term shows he's less valuable league wide.
If Buchnevich as a UFA with a 90 mill cap is apparently going to be cheaper to sign than RFA Meier with an 83 mill cap, what does that say about how they're valued league wide</div></div>
He will only cost less because he is older. If he is signed long term it will likely be cheaper than Meier. Doesn't mean he is the worse player. Buch has better statics for the past 4 seasons and yes Meier was on a worse team (the Sharks) but he got the best opportunities and ice time to produce. He has also struggled since going to New Jersey. If I'm taking a player at 8.8 million it would be Buch I'm just saying Buch will likely get less than that so he has more value.

Exploring Buch as Meier Comp
I think this trade is pretty even. Me personally I wouldn't want to add in Vorobyov as he looked great in training camp. I think it makes the most sense to move Buch instead of signing him long term. I like this idea and it's original good job.

No, not even close.
Agree that Buchnevich has more value than Tarasenko due to age/contract but Buch only has 1 more year...
I think the deal is pretty good/fair in terms of value, Chabot-Parayko + the 2nd more than make up for the Buch-Tarasenko difference</div></div>
Okay one of the big tells to me is Ottawa fans are more than willing to move Chabot (as he is worse than Sanderson and Chychrun) compared to St. Louis fans who aren't big on moving Parayko. Parayko has the better contract even though it is 3 more years he makes 1.5 million less. Parayko is consistently healthy even when dealing with back injuries he still played as opposed to Chabot who has never played over 71 games. Also, Parayko has been great this year, Chabot has not.

Saad is exactly what he's always been. He just really struggled to score at the start of the season so his numbers are a bit down but he's looked better recently. I think the Blues would be willing to trade him because of the prospects we have in the system but I don't think the Blues would retain on his contract and take up a retention slot. And I mean for 4.5 million his contract is just fine especially with the cap going up next year.

I feel like that's pretty fair value unless Vrana really starts to dominate. But with Berube as his coach I don't see that happening.
The Blues would also likely retain 50% of his remaining salary to increase his value a bit.

Shuffle the Defense Deck
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AC14</b></div><div>I’m not sure Perunovich can save this PP. Krug is and has always been one of the better PP puck movers in the league. It’s hard to have success when everything is a jumbled mess because 2 of the first 3 passes are off the tape and we can’t get a clean entry. I’m not so sure all of that is on the defenseman at this point.</div></div>
I respectfully have to disagree with this. Krug really struggles with positioning on the powerplay. Like he just stands in the middle of the ice and watches as the puck gets cleared out past him. Perunovich and other great powerplay quarterbacks (for example Dunn) can read which way the puck is moving and hold it in at the line. On top of that when they get the puck at the point they don't panic with it and they make smooth plays to an open man. Krug just shoots it back in behind the net. At this point in his career I think he is just too slow to be the same powerplay quarterback he used to be and his skillset pales in comparison to what Perunovich can bring. It baffles me how he gets 22+ minutes a night and Perunovich is stuck on the bench.
On another note I'd like to see Tucker played more he's looked really solid in his small minutes and I think him and Parayko could perform decent together.

I believe Grzelcyk is a free agent next offseason so if the Blues wanted to they could sign him. I think I would rather go with Perunovich in the top 4 but Grzelcyk is good for sure.
