Cause they've been trying to since the start of the offseason. He's been in basically every trade rumor mill there is. I said a second because that's what the rumored asking price is.

As a pure rental there are lots of teams that would be interested. But VAN should maximize value by trying to deal him to a team that would want an extension in place. CBJ is a good fit for that, maybe WSH.

I can guarantee you Miller gets a lot more than a middle 6 rental, bottom pair RHD, okay prospect, and a 3rd. It’s been reported his return will likely top Fiala’s return, or match it at worst

I don't think garland is a player that the leafs would move knies for, but I understand your reasoning.

Totally fair. I'm not super high on him either. I do think he improves the defence though and provides Quinn with a stable partner for at least the next 5 years (starting this year). Whereas those higher ceiling prospects may not be viable partners for Quinn until 23/24 or 24/25, I guess I am a little impatient and want VAN to compete for a playoff spot this year

Really good idea with the Pearson/Donskoi swap. That's exactly the type of trade Vancouver should be looking for imo - get rid of Pearson, Dickinson, and Poolman by looking for guys on worse AAV but 1 year term remaining.

On the roster I have 2,7,9,18,19 and 72 as your untouchable core, and for prospects I have Sandy, Greig and Pinto, as well as one of the two top RHD prospects. You can't bring in Quality if you're afraid of giving quality in return, and Ottawa NEEDS to bring in quality this summer.</div></div>
I'm 100% with you, but a lot hinges on this coming draft. If either of the top 2 RHD fall to #7, I'm willing to flip guys. Otherwise, Ottawa has F depth (to me Greig is a top 6 with a little seasoning). The top 3 are Greig, JBD, Thomson. After that go crazy, but those positions and qualities are so hard to acquire.

If the pens knew they could bring Miller back after next season, it would be more of an option. But for what is currently just a one year rental, this isn't a bad return. I think the return you are after is coming from a team with the knowledge he wants to stay and the ability to sign him long term which is just not the Pens at this point.

Both him and Kapanen fit the Canucks window a lot better than Miller along with whoever they get with the 1st. Like if you look at other teams that are trading for Garland they'll be more reasonable cause they don't have a considerable bias towards the players.</div></div>
I have not seen a single Canuck fan asking for the 7OA + for Garland in any ACGM's, there is no such bias

I think more than anything the Kapanen deal cemented Rutherford has a fairly spotty track record valuing assets & trading (and drafting for that matter). He's no doubt past his best before date.
Regardless, Its a fair proposal for Miller and may or may not be enough to get it done.</div></div>
