I think there would be an insurrection at Portage and Main (our famous intersection) if our GM would trade Ehlers.

Severson
Sevo for Schmidt isn't happening, he won't have a place on the roster behind Siegenthaler and Graves/Hughes. Same problem with Dillon. DeMelo would be interesting with a good enough sweetener but would face the same problem behind Hamilton, Nemec, and Marino after this year.

Tkachuk attempt
Even as a Dev fan, I'm not sure that package would be compelling enough, unless Calgary was 100% sure MT wants out near term. I'm kind of holding out hope for Flames ... I don't think it's far fetched they lock him up, now that Johnny Hockey money has freed up. They have another $5m of space opening up after the season with Lucic.

Trade aside. Seems a bit optimistic to get Bratt on a contract like that at this point.

I would assume so. Between this and the Nemec pick, I don't see where he'd fit into the plan moving forward.
Might be a deadline deal though.

Where was it reported they were offered 13++? I saw isles offered 13OA but that was probably with 26OA going back the other way

Josh Anderson to Calgary
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SMH</b></div><div>Habs would never go for such a trade, not in a million years</div></div>
i will never get why Habs fans overvalue a 28 year old winger with one (1) 20-goal season in the 6 seasons he's been a full-timer yet still somehow has 5 years of $5.5M left. Pelletier looks like a top-6 guy and Valimaki gives you the chance to not roll out an LD depth chart that's Joel Edmundson and 2 rookies, plus it clears about $3M off this year's cap. I honestly don't see why -Calgary- would even offer a package that includes arguable their top prospect - this package is close to what they gave up for Tyler Toffoli, a guy with a much better track record and a cheaper deal.

Still Need A Top Winger
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pocke</b></div><div>I don't think Smith is what CBJ would be looking for. We have Bean already at the bottom of our LD. We have Christiansen who is serviceable in a 3rd pairing role and we have Mateychuk coming up in a couple of years.
I think we'd much rather give a look at Dawson Mercer.
That being said, CBJ will move Voracek/Nyquist/Bean/Boqvist before trading Laine for assets (unless he wants a ridiculous contract, but Jarmo doesn't seem bothered yet).</div></div>
Mercer would be a none starter for me. Very promising rookie year. Seems to be a solid top 6 contributor sooner than later. Since other comments are saying “overpay”, why not just take Smith out completely? Sharangovich and a 1st for Laine?

For a defenceman that doesnt produce any offense. That was every Isles fans take in Anderson and you got a black hole of offence from Romy</div></div>

100% ... Kid is only 22 years old with two years of NHL experience. D are notoriously long dated development & this kid was not only fast tracked, but showed he can play at a high level. Crazy to give up on him already ... How many 22 year old (or younger) Defenseman have shown more at this point ?
Michael Stone as a better option??? Come on

Factor in the MacK extension
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Book_Hockey</b></div><div>I agree with everything you said here, but it’s important to note that Crosby’s situation is a little bit different. When he signed is 5/43M deal in 2008, the cap was 56,300,000, meaning his 8.7M deal accounted for 15% of the cap. It obviously went down from there, with his next deal in 2013 initially accounting for 13.5% of the cap (using 64,300,000 as a the cap). If Mackinnon took 13.5% of the cap in 2023, his salary would be 11.272M. So while Crosby never took 10M, he always took up a significant portion of his teams cap space</div></div>
Makes sense, still think he takes under $12 million at least, we will see what the number is. Have to think they sign the extension this summer and don't wait until next year.

Big package
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Koskinen_The_Great</b></div><div>lol Bratt better than JT.</div></div>
This past season JFresh had Bratt at 92nd percentile for WAR and Miller at 85th.
Bratt was nearly a point per game this year, his draft year plus 6 season. In his D+6, Miller had 56 points in a full 82 games, at the time his career high.
Miller has eclipsed a point per game twice in his career, and at 29 this year's 99 points are more than likely going to be his career high. Bratt is 23, and has 3-5 years of prime immediately in front of him.
Miller has one year left before hitting UFA, whereas Bratt can be signed to 7, or bridged for 3 and then signed to 8 for 11 years of control.
