I think we could get away with at least a lower pick in that trade for Ghost, especially since it’s a cap dump trade both ways.
That Meier trade definitely loses the bidding war.

Meier for Holtz one for one is not remotely "fair". Don't be ridiculous.

Isn’t good business on Griers end. Devils fans shouldn’t complain either because when Graves gets signed and Hughes and Nemec come up there’s literally no room for Muk. Holtz can’t play bottom 6 minutes so he’s expendable as well</div></div>
Grier cannot afford to lose this trade. Breaking even is the minimum but for the sake of the organisation he needs to win this trade. Its a massive move for a small market team with a waning fanbase. He has to get at least one piece that is widely considered a top prospect that is close to NHL ready (Holtz) but he can't settle there. Need high end picks and complimentary pieces too.

These values are all over the place. I doubt New Jersey gets rid of Mercer for nothing and I doubt San Jose takes on Wheeler’s contract.

Goalies just don’t have that kind of value. They are very important but also highly volatile.

I honestly don't know what I would trade him for, personally. I rather have Fox over him, and Trouba (despite his cap hit) and I rather have Schneider than Severson.</div></div>
Fox > Severson > Trouba
Schneider looked good too. Not sure where he ultimately ends up. Needs to develop more offensive aspects to really be top-pair guy.

Severson Deal Extension
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>AG_sweden</b></div><div>If he was that then NJD wouldn't have made the Marino deal this off season. He is a serviceable top 4 d-man. But at times are unreliable in the defensive-zone.
Now it looks like he will be a top 6 D-man or Marino</div></div>
Severson has been our #1 dman in time on ice for last 5-6 years. So I have no idea where you are getting this from.
Marino isn't taking minutes from Severson...he is taking Subban's old role and probably stealing a few defensive situation minutes from Hamilton.
Severson is very good defensively...especially on the rush and on controlled d-zone exits.

Why would NJD trade for Wheeler? I wouldn't if I was GM of NJD. Severson may be average as defense men but I still value him over Wheeler (even if it is 50 % retained)

Was thinking originally making it a top 2 protected 2023 1st. Probably should have just not had the protection on 2024 pick to make it closer.

I'm a massive Drouin to Arizona advocate.
He has great skillset but he's no good at dealing with immense pressure, so he doesn't fit to play in a hockey environment like Montreal.

Just watched a YouTube clip. Yeah it was a dirty hit and he got a 2 game suspension. But lets pump the breaks a little. Dirty hits happen all the time in hockey unfortunately. I think calling him a terrible person who belongs in jail is definitely a troll comment

Sure Miller is a good winger, but a 1-year rental is not worth giving up Holtz, Mercer, 1st (or whatever is the trade du jour).

I don't generally agree with what Canuck fans expect for Miller in a trade, but this is just beyond lopsided in favor of Jersey.
