Where does Marner Go
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Stadel</b></div><div>I genuinely believe if Sabres ownership wasn’t bleeding financially they’d be all over making a huge splash for marner.
Aside from his full no trade, that’s the major obstacle imo. I’m not sure how they give him the contract he wants.
The other concern is even if they could/would meet contract demands, how does the locker room react to him making so much more than guys like Tage? There’s a reason the devils held firm on not paying Meier and Bratt so much more than Hughes. Sabres did this once before and it burned them.
In a different world this is a spicy idea and good for all things rivalry related. Alas, in this one it’s unlikely to come to pass.</div></div>
Not sure they'd be interested in paying $10-11M for a winger who is more of a set-up guy than scorer, albeit a pretty good scorer. Look at how much unwarranted grief Skinner is getting for his $9M contract, one he signed at the same age as Marner with more goal scoring credentials (second to Stammer in goals/60 [min. 550 games] and 5th in EVG behind Ovie, JT, P. Kane, Stammer [min 550 games.] Those nine seasons feature one 40-goal season and three 30-goals seasons including a Calder Trophy-winning campaign with 31 goals and 32 assists.
Sabreland is hating on Skinner who post soccer idiot is second in goals (92,) first in EVG (71) and is only 0.02 goals/60 behind Tage.

Where does Marner Go
From The Hockey News:
"The fans have turned on a player who missed a check on David Pastrnak's OT winner, who doesn't change his game for the playoffs, who whines and complains when things aren't going his way. "
That type of player is the last thing that Buffalo needs.
(go ahead, take your 13-year playoff drought shots)

Offseason predictions

Point taken, however I usually don't read such long descriptions. Secondly, I really don't think the Sabres' main focus is on a top-six/top-line winger (although the favorable deal might be tempting) and like Woj said, the Sabres are pretty high on Komarov, a good-sized, RHD whose two-way game is developing nicely. And he was just named QMJHL defensive player of the year.

Not interested in Marner, especially at the price. Which is really bailing out the Leafs.

I don't think the Sabres and Blues are good trade partners at this point. Nothing against Buchnevich but I don't think a rental is in their thought process.
And much to the dismay of some in Sabreland, I find it hard to believe their focus will be on a top-six forward as their real weakness was at 3C and fourth line.

It ain't perfect, but the general idea is there. Find a good 3C, rework the fourth line and try to upgrade the d. All of which focus on solid NHL players with age and experience who can add missing dimensions to an overall very young group

Don't know how "even if he's a great player" constitutes placing Kulich on that level.

Not sure the Sabres are interested in young(er) d-men. And I'm not so sure they're gonna move Kulich after putting a lot of time into his development with (probably) a third line spot for him to take control of.

Point taken, although I'm not very fond of that approach from Adams. I'll pony on that a bit as well because I think Lindy will give him a shot somewhere in the lineup.

The value in the trade lies in a revamped fourth line that's pretty damn good. And I don't see how exchanging 4th-liners is a bad thing when the player I'm bringing in would be an immense boost (even better with Lindholm's prowess) to a faceoff percentage that ranks dead last (45.4%) over the last three seasons,

You're arguing the offensive merits of 4th-liners, which is exactly my point. Krebs is a 4th-liner who has more assists than Accari (in 25 more games.) However...the question still stands, name me one thing that Krebs excels at. For instance, Accari is very good on the dot (and he scored as many goals as Krebs in 25 less games *snicker, snicker*)

Krebs still produced more than Acciari. Krebs is also fast. Acciari isn't good or pens fans wouldn't be dumping him in almost every acgm post.</div></div>
Noel Accari scored the same number of goals (4) as Krebs in 25 less games.
As for Granato, he's the same head coach that unleashed Tage...and Tuch..,and Skinner...and Cozens. Dahlin hit his highest point total two years ago and hit 20 goals last season. He guided Quinn to a 37 point rookie campaign and JJ to a 28 goal sophomore season.
Each and every one of those players has at least one attribute they excel at. Krebs? Nyet!

No. He can't play up and down the lineup as proven by the last 13 game where he was given a legit shot at 3C and came in at 1+2 with a minus-3 rating while being benched a number of times.
Krebs a 4C (possible, albeit slightly, bottom-six forward) who has trouble winning faceoffs. Accari wins faceoffs, is fast and is tough to play against.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Czu8iks</b></div><div>I doubt Lindholm signs that, so it all breaks apart.</div></div>
Although I understand the Buffalo-tax thing, here are the facts with Lindholm:
--he's presently deployed in a third-line center role on the 'Nucks, which is where he'd be on the Sabres
--he's had only two seasons above 64pts since Carolina traded him away, one of them was his first season with the Flames (27+51; 20:02 ATOI)
--his best season was two years ago (42+40; 19:57 ATOI)
--since then his production has dropped: 22+42 in 2022-23, 15+29 with CGY and VAN this past season
--his ice time has also dropped--18:39 in 2022-23, 19:42 combined CGY/VAN, but 17:42 after the trade to VAN
--he'll be 30 this December
Having said all that, I think he'll come in at $5.5-6M on his next contract. I went with the lower number, and I would go into that $6M area or higher, but on a three-year deal instead of four.
