i really want him now
if CBJ are willing to retain that much, 3M for merz would be such a great deal and give us more confidence in our tandem for only 5.6M which would allow us to be so much more flexible cap wise.
The question is if the CBJ would want a basically 7.4M goalie to play backup for the next 3 szns

ew, parayko is one of the worst contracts in the league paying that much for him and a 4th liner is lunacy, I don't like ceci but I'd rather keep him at 3x2 than CP @6.5x7 with his injury history as trajectory over the past 2 seasons has been concerning also that 6.5M will hinder drai, Bouch, holloway, mcleod and possibly foegele from all re-signing

oilers decline that leaves us without a trustable 3LD so unless you take kulak-Bourgault or broberg-ceci for walker + then it doesn't make much sense for the oilers

cam is not that good anymore his underlying numbers are very mid comparable to injured kane's, wasting a first for someone who barely moves the needle is Ludacris, might as add more to get TK who's numbers have been great for a long time now

petry doesn't want to be in canada as he already stated which is why MTL traded him to PITTS so i highly doubt he waives his M-NTC which has a 15 team no trade list and he probably has all the canadian teams on there

Deadline defensemen
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SwarmChair</b></div><div>Not actually. While he’s the least sexy of all the defenceman the Oilers have he is nowhere near the most mistake prone. He’s steady back there provides a bit of puck movement. Nothing special but he’s not a liability. He hasn’t been one for years.</div></div>
no, this past 8 game winning streak ceci has constantly been one of the oilers bottom 3 defensemen, When ceci is on the ice opponents shots, goals and chances go up while the oilers offense (especially draisaitl's) go wayyyy down, ceci's poor defending and offense are being covered up by the 5 man unit of 93-97-18, 14-2 who have been dominating every line they play against and scoring at a crazy rate IF the oilers want to be true contenders they need upgrade on ceci who is playing out of his depth range and acquire a true top4 D who can compliment nurses game as ceci takes away from his game
91-29-28, 25-5 has been the worst 5 man unit since being put together even being outplayed by the 4th line (brown and ceci put up some of the worst metrics in the WHOLE LEAGUE when on ice together)

getting drai real wingers
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>SwarmChair</b></div><div>I wouldn’t expect that cause I expected the Oilers to just stay the course. There’s no emergency reason to dump Campbell at this point, our goaltending has looked stellar recently. It makes no sense to pay up to dump Campbell, so we can do what? Go get a goaltender that won’t even be better than Skinner? Cause those are the types of goaltenders that are available on the market</div></div>
the oilers need someone to split the net with skinner before they burn him out again just like last year and pickard has played 1 game and looked good but his career numbers show that he is nothing more than an organizations great #3, trying to play him as a 1B until playoffs doesn't seem like a recipe for success there is no rush for a goalie now and other teams know it so maybe they won't high ball the oilers as much knowing they are not that desperate to move jack, Now might be the lowest it's going to cost to dump campbell so might as well get it over with

He was acquired for a 7th round pick cause Yzerman couldn’t wait to get rid of him. And now the blues can’t wait to get rid of him.</div></div>
knowing ken holland he would still try to pay for vrana like he did with keith when he wanted to be in canada but VAN and CGY didn't want him so kenny paid C.Jones and a 3rd which allowed CHI to sign seth jones then nurse used that as a comparable to get his $, God i still hate him for that nurse bridge

place for the young
oilers decline, would love to move on from jack but that gally contract is no for me considering we have to extend Draisaitl, Mcdavid, Bouchard, Holloway, Mcleod and skinner all while kane, Hyman and nuge are all still under contract for 5M, and the dead money from the brown contract and 1.9M from neal's buyout is going to ruin us
too much money for too long, oilers say no

you think they would do vrana @50% for broberg 1 for 1, I like broberg and think he can still be a great D-man but man do the oilers suck at properly developing prospects Broberg-Bouchard was my dream pair of the future but I don't trust holland to over-see his development anymore after the whole trade debacle, I hope he goes somewhere where he proves what he can do with the trust of the coach and gm

seravalli reported that it would probably only take a 1st and 3rd to dump campbell not 2 1st + prospects like everyone has in their heads, add broberg who still has potential to be something and upgrade that 3rd to a 2nd and you most likely get blackwood idk about duclair tho maybe another pick or prospect like lavoie or XB

edmonton does not do that STL trade, Kulak-Desh have been great for the past while now and leddy's contract is horrible even at 2M bc he'll be bought out and replaced by the final year and binnington is phony who makes more than campbell we would be better off getting a shorter term option and going for a goalie in FA without holland in the front office

imagine having duclair catching speed from the red line and spacing out defenders because of the breakout pass threat from bochard/mcdavid while Mcdavid swings in his own zone then rushes up for a easy 1 on 1 with the defender because duclair is a treat on the wing, god that would be so fun to watch

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Timmah007</b></div><div>I’d rather just keep foegele over duclair judging by the start to the season.</div></div>
Foegele has been good i agree but his track record of not being able to finish is his and the oilers biggest weakness the bottom 6 needs a shake up and foegele is the only one with cap that we can move in order to free up some space for a trade like we did with Pulju and EK last year, + duclair has speed and spacing that could help mcdavid if they can click together but really anyone who could help the rush and transitions would be good for this team, Foegele is more a cycle hard worker and Edmonton has a bunch of those with 0 finishers
