8 years at 4 million? Not the kind of term a player who believes in his ability to improve would commit to at that price.

I’m not a Wild fan, but I can imagine a player of his caliber with that steal of a contract isn’t anywhere near the trade block.
If he is, it’d be 3x what you’d be willing to pay

Neither one does this. Minnesota wants nothing to do with Huby nor are we willing to give away all those picks for a bad player, and Calagary won't retain 50%

I mean... the statement that Minnesota needs to rebuild makes no sense. This is a heck of a young core.

Absolutely. Faber is at least as valuable as Byram at this point, and Eriksson Ek is by far the best player in the deal, signed to a great contract long term.

Best way to ensure Rossi fails: stick him with two talentless grinders like Foligno and Maroon
For a team with no centers, they sure don't seem interested in developing their best one

I wanted to create some fluidity in the bottom 6 and make sure Rossi stays safe. If you want to flip one of those guys to the fourth, and bring up Gaudreau to play wing and Duhaime centers the fourth, that would be fine.</div></div>
It's not just you, it seems Dean isn't even going to consider anything else. Rossi plays (when he's playing his game anyway) a smart, playmaking game that relies on distributing the puck to guys who have offensive instincts and can score. He's never going to be a guy who can just do it all himself like Kaprizov or Boldy. He needs some talent he can move the puck around with. Dump and chase isn't going to be a good fit and Foligno can only score by crashing the net and hoping for a rebound. Which can be useful, but it's not going to get the most out of Rossi's game.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>PeterGriffin</b></div><div>Id hope Boldy steps up, its his 3rd year in the league on his new contract, Rossi probably not a difference maker</div></div>
Boldy has already *stepped up*.
That idea is preposterous. Or does the fact he's already a 30 goal scorer in just his 2nd season, first full, mean anything to outside idiots? Or the fact he was literally over a PPG down the stretch to end the season after Kaprizov went down with injury.
Boldy doesn't need to do a damn thing to step up, because he already has.
As for Rossi, its hard to be a difference maker when your consistently stuck on a team's bottom-six with actual non-difference makers and not with actual top-six talent.

Neither Hartman nor Addison are very expensive, and they're both better players than the ones you have Minnesota taking on. If the motivation is to save cap, there are better options to explore. Hartman is a massive bargain at 1.7M and Addison won't be more than 1M.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Caniac2000</b></div><div>Lindholm's a 60 point C, all that's changed since he left is his position. He's still suboptimal defensively, and he needs elite linemates to be an elite producer. He's a Trocheck replacement. I still wouldn't move KK for that who could be that in his own right</div></div>
That's where we disagree. He is quite good defensively, that's why he finished 2nd in Selke voting 2 years ago. If Bergeron was slightly worse, then he would've won it.
Toffoli, at the age of 30, had a career year last year thanks to playing with Lindholm. He scored 73pts(15 more than his previous career high). Also the Flames had a terrible PP last year and didn't get to utilize Lindholm's shot.
Finally here are Lindholm's (pro rated to an 82 game season) point totals since he left Carolina, I think he's more than a 60pt C.
2018-19 79pts
2019-20 69pts
2020-21 69pts
2021-22 82pts
2022-23 66pts

No probably not because I'm a prospect freak. But if you're in MIN shoes where you are consistently sitting in mediocrity and don't want to scare Kaprisov off, I can 100% see that trade happening.</div></div>
Scare Kaprizov off?
Dude, the team just had back to back 100 point seasons, with what is typically described by most people as a middling roster. And did it with a $12-14M
handicap due to the buyouts.
Despite this success, the team has still managed to build one of the TOP prospect pools in the league. So while they could afford to part with prospects for help now it doesn't mean they should or would make this trade. Because you seem to be under the mistaken impression that the team is in *win now* mode, when they're actually just in *stay competitive* mode until the buyouts are over. Because there is absolutely a difference between the two.
The team isn't wasting assets on a player they can neither afford or could keep around. And if they did make this move for center help they wouldn't be interested in Kuzy because he doesn't play defensive hockey, well or at all. They would instead go after someone like Lindholm from Calgary.

Minny Fans Let Me Know
He is a solid all around defenseman.
No, he doesn't have attitude issues. On the contrary, he's a lockerroom leader. His absence from Minnesota's roster, along with Reaves, left Guerin so worried about that hole he traded for Maroon to fill it.
He's fallen off <em>offensively</em> since his injury from his fight with Matt Tkachuk destroyed any chance of becoming the original Norris caliber talent he was growing into. But he's adapted to stay in the NHL since then. Growing his defensive game, which was initially a black hole, to solidifying it and becoming a strength. He's decent defensively, and can still move the puck out and up the ice really well, he just doesn't score much. He's combined that with a physical, gritty, on the edge type of playstyle that many teams could use.
The reason he's not signed is the same reason why Patrick Kane, Vladimir Tarasenko, and many other high profile players haven't signed yet either.
Cap space is exceedingly tight, and the teams most in need of his services are the ones who can't afford him. It's not difficult to piece out why he's not signed yet.

I doubt it.
The teams in most in need of him, are the same teams that can't afford him.
He's worth his $5M price tag. And there's not too many teams that can afford that right now that aren't rebuilding.

I think I'm one of the few MN fans that would have interest in Kuzy next year, but def not at the cost of Marat.
I'd consider like Firstov and a mid pick, but Marat is off the table for me.
