Description

Huberdeau obviously needs to get out of Calgary. Minnesota obviously needs to rebuild, but refuses to do so (as evidenced by their recent extensions) - so maybe they take a hail mary instead. Gives Calgary a solid roster player in Foligno and some picks - gives the Wild a shot at a reclamation project at a reasonable price. An obvious overpayment based on picks, but we've never seen anything close to this level of retention, so trying to account for that.

There's no way Craig Conroy is eating nearly $42,000,000 on Jonathan Huberdeau for that joke of any offer. 50% Retention for 7.5 years comes at a heavy cost you'd need at least another 2 1st added as well if not even more.

Neither one does this. Minnesota wants nothing to do with Huby nor are we willing to give away all those picks for a bad player, and Calagary won't retain 50%

I honestly don't think this is as far fetched as others see it. Calgary getting out of Huberdeau in any way possible should be at the top of their list and acquiring three picks while doing so is a bonus.
Retaining for that long is going to absolutely suck but considering it's a buyout proof contract, I'd be very in for considering a trade like this.
