Offseason

I had to sell assets off to re-sign addison and gustavsson, and some of the bottom 6. This team might be screwed in the off-season</div></div>
I think when it comes to trying to sign these guys, the Gus deal is a great idea. The Addy extension seems like a risky, premature move. Especially with uncertainty that he'll actually be in Minnesota longterm. I think it'd make sense to try and match the Sandin extension with him. However, if this the plan and if there is no real offensive talent around Rossi, and Freddy does resign, you should sell on Hartman for what would likely be a very nice return and run
Kap-Rossi-Zucc
Becks-Ek-Boldy
Foligno-Freddy-Duhaime
Shaw-Dewar-???
I love Dewar but he hasn't shown really anything offensively and Beckman looked good in that spot imo

A BIG Gamble
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Digitalbooya06</b></div><div>I don’t get the purpose of the trade for Minnesota.</div></div>
Schmaltz is a great player, a righty, a center and is on a good, if not great deal. Minnesota would be fools to not have interest. They'd also be fools to rush and get a fix to the center position without any cap space and pay the likely really high price of acquiring Schmaltz

Schmaltz likely costs two 1sts+ without retention. With 50% retention this offer would get you laughed off the phone

max value for suzuki
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>i disagree, i would rather have suzuki for team needs. center are more valuable. we dont need an elite center, i bet he would look elite palying with zucc and kap for sure. a late first and a swtich of young player is a small price to pay. i'd rather pay asset for that kind of players and a sure thing than trading potential first for fleury.</div></div>
That is the opposite of a small price to pay. And if you'd prefer Suzuki over Boldy, I can understand that. But there is still no reason to push the issue at center right now. Especially when the team really doesn't get any better from a talent perspective. Adding on a 1st would be complete overkill.
The Wild are already going to be extremely tight for fitting the team under the salary cap next season. That 875k matters. And again, we don't need to rush to find a 1C. As far as we know, Rossi could step right in to that slot next season and play great. Trust the process, don't rush things. Guerin seems to know what he's doing

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>drambui</b></div><div>lets be real, wild are starving fir an actual center, i would trade boldy and first for suzuki in a heartbeat.</div></div>
Then I would think that you're a fool in that instance. Boldy is 2 years younger and still a similar level, if not better player, extended at a cheaper rate
Minnesota's window doesn't truly open until 2025, and by then they'll have more than enough cap space and assets to acquire basically anyone who would be made available. Rushing to get a low end 1C at best doesn't make things any better.
We know JEE is a stud, see what you have in Rossi and Khusnutdinov and go from there

Nelson is a 31 year old 2C having a career year. If he was viewed as the 1C you claim he is, Lou wouldn't have traded for Horvat. The value is entirely off but much, much, much worse than that is having a Minnesota team that is not in their window of contention rush the process by making this disaster of a move, giving up at least three 1sts in value to dump money they most definitely don't need to dump and bringing in a center they shouldn't be bringing in. This trade would be off on all bases

Using Cap Space and becoming a legit Contender
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>Asplund hasn’t fallen outta favor,
he’s just been caught in a numbers game
We like Jost & Krebs better at Center than him,
and we aren’t gonna sit guys wearing a letter (Girgensons & Okposo)
He’s played fine when in the lineup
And i didn’t say Foligno is a dump
But i do think u guys would like to clear his Cap
And he is declining
Maybe he’s worth more than I’m thinking, but o don’t think he’s worth much
We probably would do Asplund for Foligno, and maybe even include a mid-round pick</div></div>
I think that Asplund+ return should interest Guerin. I like it as the base of a trade.
Personally, I think with Eriksson-Ek finally playing with Boldy, both Foligno and Greenway should be seen as expendable. As you've mentioned, the cap relief would be nice and GREEF line lost it's touch and heavily rrgressed from last season.

Using Cap Space and becoming a legit Contender
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Buffalove</b></div><div>I get that you’re a Wild fan….
But what do u think you’d get in the summer for a declining Foligno coming off a down season?
Maybe I’m wrong here, but I’m assuming the biggest value to u guys in the deal would just be getting rid of his Cap
Yeah, like i said before, was just fudging the numbers to make Dvorak fit under the Cap
I think we could find savings elsewhere if necessary
And my thinking with McCabe is that a 2nd & decent prospect is roughly equal to a late 1st, and i don’t think anyone will actually give up a 1st for him</div></div>
I think a 1st is possible is not probable for McCabe. He's not a rental and he's at the very least worth his cap hit. And with Buffalo battling for a playoff spot, I don't think Bloom would jump you up half a round if you were to try and trade up on draft day
Foligno isn't just a dump, nor does he need to be. He's still a physical leader, with very good defense at the very least. We've seen that fetch much more than fringe guys. Mid 20s AHL guys that won't amount much if anything aren't of interest to Minnesota with guys like Dewar, Shaw, Duhaime and Walker all already on the team or able to make the team next year in more limited roles. I think either a pick, Asplund or Mitts could make sense in a Foligno trade. Maybe some other pieces involved. Foligno is far from valueless or a cap casualty right now. Speaking of Asplund, has he fallen out of favour with Buffalo and/or the fans?
I think you're good on the Dvorak front if you drop the 3rd and clear up that 2+ mil so you're not paying for retention as well

That's probably fine value for Dvorak without the retention
And Chicago wants a first for McCabe

From MN:
- Trading Duma to a contender makes the only sense for MN so they can recoup assets to maybe use in other trades
- Ohgren and Lambois will be needed in 2/3 years as the dead caps come off and MN probably goes after a few top priced FAs
- No way MN trades their 1st this year as they need it going into cap hell for the next 2 years unless it retains a 30 goal guy on a "CHEAP" contracted that is controlled for 2-4 years
From VAN:
- Stupid to package any of these players together really
- Bo will fetch a ton by himself due to his longevity and the season he is having as a 1C
- Kuzmenko will most likely get only a 1st as he has 1 season in the NHL and his contract is basically nothing so his market will be BIG
- JT Miller will probably cost VAN to dump him
- Schenn might be added to a Bo or Kuz deal so maybe its just another pick coming back but I could see a D hungry cup contender paying a 2nd for him</div></div>
I believe the phrase "you hit the nail on the head" would apply here
