I don't think LA is ready to give up on Byfield.

I don't know what you were smoking when you came up with that LA Kings trade but it's way too strong to come from a dispensary

It came from the reservation outside Buffalo to be honest with you.

Agreed - if the Kings weren't willing to give up Byfield in an Eichel trade, why would they now even consider the idea for a package as mediocre as Mittelstadt and Jokiharju? Byfield hasn't regressed any further since then and the 1st rounder isn't enough of a sweetener IMO.

There's also the question of why the Sabres would even want/need to add a young center like Byfield when they already have two large, young centers locked up as their 1-2 pivots.

I wish I could go back and find how many times I said this about Tage, "Big players take longer to develop!"
Tage first starting showing signs of his potential when he was 23, Quinton is only 20 give him time.
There is no way under the heavens the Kings would trade a 6'6" 220 lb forward while he is still a cost controlled RFA.

Roy for Jokiharju makes half sense -- it's not a bad idea for the Sabres, but if we trade Matt Roy, we won't be taking another right-handed defenseman back when we have Doughty and Durzi and NHL-ready Clarke and Spence plus Sean Walker on hand. But Byfield for a middling first is just cuckoo. @gretzkyghosts says it perfectly.

Remember when people called Cam Neely and Todd Bertuzzi busts? Pepperidge Farms remembers.
