Krug still provides much needed offense from the blue line. Something most teams covet.

They most definitely wouldn't need to give him away. He's definitely overvalued by Blues fans, but he's also not the main problem with the team.

Just going to throw out there that the last time Blues missed the playoffs they won the Cup the year after a big trade (ROR). Just saying.

Blues will offer a Kyrou/Thomas like offer for him. Personally I think the Blues should just strip to bare bones and rebuild, not retool. With their roster it could be a quick turnaround similar to Boston via 2015

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Db1899</b></div><div>Analytics does account for teammates and competition. Paraykos analytics have been declining for 3 straight years, the blues are mediocre , they’re not a bottom feeder. They don't account for teammates. That's the problem. They try to isolate it to only the player is on the ice, but that is impossible in a team game where there are 5 other players on the ice to account for. Analytics also don't tell the story of player positioning. If analytics were the end all be all, then teams wouldn't be interested in him, yet they are. If you rely on analytics to win, you'll lose just about every time.

Meier to blues at worst
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>A_K</b></div><div>For me, if they're going to spend the picks it needs to solve the defense (ex. Chychrun). The goal should be to fix the mess on defense and try to be competitive when Bolduc and Snuggerud come up and hopefully start to contribute. Meier rumors just seem like the insiders connecting dots between a team with picks that might spend them and Meier being OTB. Doesn't really fix anything for the Blues even though he is a great player.</div></div>
They need to fix D, but likely can't because Army is an idiot who hands out bad contracts like they're candy. Great at trading, but on contracts.

Army playin chess not checkers MeierChychrun
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TheEarthmaster</b></div><div>I said it before, I can talk myself into Meier for the Blues because if it takes you another year to get the roster ducks in a row that's fine because any deal with Meier is going to be an 8 year extension after this year no matter what, and if he'll do the extension then you have some time to play with ala New Jersey with Hamilton.
The whole reason Chychrun is expensive to acquire is because of his contract. It's a rare opportunity to get a 6-7mil defenseman for 2/3 of that cost for this postseason and two more. That's helpful if you're a cap strapped contender looking to get one significant piece to put you over the top. The Blues are more than one significant piece (two if you count a potential Meier trade) to get over the top, they would have to do more while burning the cheap Chychrun years they payed a premium for. I don't get the Chychrun thing at all, makes way more sense for LA or Boston or Edmonton than the Blues.</div></div>
Chychrun makes sense if they can dump Leddy and/or Krug (which they can't) because they need good young defensemen on the team. If they don't infuse good young talent than they're Chicago in a year or two.

Fair enough. Like I said the only disagreement we have is the pick involved because despite Parayko's contract, he's a lot more valuable than Zaitsev who is a straight cap dump which Parayko isn't...yet. Those last 4 years will be rough though

Leddy - as unmovable as Gudbranson
Krug - no chance anyone takes him
Faulk - will never waive for anyone
Parayko - only guy that could be moved if a team is desperate imo.
They need to shed cap space on the back end . I can’t see any team taking on Paraykos full contract with 0 cap going back. And I also can’t see a team paying a 1st ++ for that contract . It’ll be a 2nd and a guy like Thomson</div></div>
They don't need to shed cap space. Yes they would like to but not needed. That stated, I dont see Parayko waiving for Ottawa anyway.

I get it but those guys were traded for cap reasons which wouldn't be the case for Parayko. That's why I agree that overall, the only thing that would likely need to change is the pick.

Just Thomson straight up for Parayko is a blues fleece. They’re trying hard to move a big money Dman to free up cap space and try to go 27 and under team. But it won’t be easy with the cap . If a guy like Meier and Debrincat aren’t going for massive packages , then I can’t see Parayko going for a 1st ++++</div></div>
While I don't see Parayko going for a king's ransom at all like other Blues fans, he does go for more than this. We're talking a 1st, plus a Zaitsev/Cody Ceci/Tyson Barrie contract back plus a prospect.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Db1899</b></div><div>the model accounts for zone starts . Most players zone starts are on the fly anyways. Why does TOI matter? What matters is how effective a player is in those minutes</div></div>
TOI is a reflection of the players usage. 350 minutes is equivalent to playing nearly 6 more games in a shorter time span. But the thing is that, and this is my problem with analytics in hockey, is that hockey is a team sport. This doesn't account for teammates on the ice with you at any given time. Given the lackluster play of the Blues in general it's no wonder why his numbers are lower. Zone start percentage can't be factored in to this equation that easily because of the team game factor.

So are you just ignoring the fact Parayko has played 400 more minutes despite the fact he's played in 5 less games than Bouchard? Also ignoring zone start percentage which is lopsided in Bouchard's favor.
