Fan Opinions on Possible Players
The trouble with offer sheets is that in some cases teams have to offer almost UFA money to acquire the player and give up picks too.
So teams are much better just better to sign UFAs and keep their picks.
Rossi, had a "break out" season for Wild this season, Don't see him being traded as the Wild don't have much centre depth.
Florida has a lot of UFAs this summer. I don't see them trading centre Lundell as they don't have great centre depth.
Necas could be on the trade market. For a team with cap, he would be a fine acquistion.

Might be able to add Graf there soon, from what I understand the Wild are very much in the race

Hello
I would accept that if I was Guerin, but tbh Spurgeon is coming off hip and back surgery. I'd be skeptical if anyone is willing to trade for him until he strings together at least a month of good hockey.

Fantastic pickup for the Leafs, one of the bigger fish NCAA free agents and one of my personal favourite targets. Fills a valuable position as a center and looked excellent this past season. May be a sore spot for Knies though, Quillan was the one who scored the goal that defeated Knies and his Golden Gophers in the NCAA finals last season
Excellent pickup, kind of shocked he chose the Leafs but I am not complaining in the slightest

Losing the dead weight
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoolHandL</b></div><div>Good thought. I suppose it depends on whether he looks like he belongs in those first 9 before the ELC starts ticking. We all know how that usually goes, but the fact that they signed him after only one year of junior after getting drafted tells me they might have that type of plan. And everyone would rather see him and/or the other kids than a re-tread like Mojo on the second line. I'm not too worried either way, next year is another year of waiting time before the cap room finally comes back.</div></div>
Yeah and realistically, optimizing the ELC isn't the end all be all. If burning a year means a better development path, I'd strongly consider it. You can always send him back to the WHL later in the year, if it isn't working as well as you'd like. Though I do imagine we'll have a pretty good idea one way or another after camp, preseason, 9 games, etc.
And you're right about next year being another lame duck, let's all wait for the dead cap to expire season.

Losing the dead weight
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>CoolHandL</b></div><div>Agreed, just send them through waivers. Or Mojo could be traded fairly easily, I'd think.
And I don't think Flower would need to be paid 3.5 again. 2M or so, is my thinking. Otherwise this looks alright. I really do wonder whether Heidt makes a push for the team, especially if Mojo/Freddy are jettisoned.</div></div>
Yeah the issue with Mojo is that they won't actually waive him. I think if he was given the ultimatum of "AHL or trade", he would waive the NTC, but Guerin isn't gonna do that. Even if it works on paper and in theory.
Heidt probably won't be ready IMHO, but it will be fun to see if he can get his 9 games and what he does with them.
Tbh, one thought I had with Heidt (if he does impress but maybe not quite full-time) is if they'd ever consider something like what Anaheim is doing with Carlsson - a deliberately reduced schedule. You obviously want him playing, but I do wonder if 40-45 NHL games is better than 68 WHL games for a guy like him.

No need to buy Mojo or Gaudreau out. Just waive em to Iowa.
Gaudreau especially, it's no difference in the cap hit beyond the first year, but it's twice as long with a buyout.

Minnesota isn't going to send you a power forward who is more valuable than Trevor Zegras or Cole Caufield for that.

Hell no.
That top 5 pick is one of Eiserman or Demidov. Or one of the 3 RHD. None of whom are sure things and all are maybe's. Especially Eiserman, who's either going to become a star or bust out, there's no in-between with him.
For, checks notes, a proven 22 year-old star 30-goal scorer on a excellent contract.

Pivot to Boldy
MN declines. No incentive or reason to trade Boldy. Locked up long term at a good number, plays a 200 ft game and scores.
There isn't gonna be a market that works for both teams. MTL wouldn't pay what it would cost.

Can't see MN doing it - too risky, not enough incentive. Boldy probably goes top 5 (for sure top 7) in a redraft and he's under contract long term at a good number.
I think if they move a young player this offseason it'll be Rossi, not Boldy.

No shot we dangle Rossi, unless someone will offer the house for him. Otherwise I WANT ALL OF THE CENTERS

This is intriguing because you know everyone is going to come on here and **** on you for saying this. But if you're a real GM sitting in a real GM chair I think you pull your people into a meeting and you discuss how Rossi and Faber project and if the two outweigh the other.
That said, I would say no. I think Bedard is too special. If it was someone like Stutzle or J Hughes I'd consider it even more.

Something a little different
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RazWild</b></div><div>No... not a chance.
Minnesota needs what again? Say it with me, now. A top six center. What has Rossi become and proven himself to be this year? A top six center.
He's NOT available. For any price, as there's no package NYR can put together that gets them to consider moving him.</div></div>
This is the type of deal that might have made some level of sense BEFORE the season when Rossi was still a bit of a question mark and the idea of getting a 1st to essentially get a do-over on the pick might have been something the Wild would consider. That ship has sailed, they're not trading Rossi for a pick 2 drafts from now when they'll need an effective player in 2025 to convince Kaprizov they're able to contend and he should extend. IMO most if not all of their decision making will be focused on building a team that has a chance then, when the dead cap drops.
