Also Roberson and Domi on a third line is scary.</div></div>
I don't disagree, but Niemela can at least stand in the way, which Klingberg cannot and once Klingberg is gone he is no longer an option - which is what is needed. You can't force play Reaves and Klingberg. they are not good at Hockey at this time. 3rd yah maybe but then you will have a functioning line with players that fills a purpose. Kokonen was pretty solid in training camp i though, but Timmonds will be back soon and you need the capspace for him and Liljegren.

Agreed, I would be interested in acquiring Travis Dermott, but if Gio is out Leafs probably need a penalty killer which Dermott is not.

I am actually both a Leafs fan and a Blues fan. I grew up loving the Blues with Hull, Oates, Brind'Amour, Stevens, MacInnes, Momesso, Lowry, Courtnall, Ronning, Maclean, Stevens, Pronger.

I agree 100%! But you know in Toronto people want to trade Marner - As a Leafs fan I am not so sure - I am just spit balling what would be a fair return in this sort of scenario. Kaprizov, Kucherov, Panarin, Huberdeau came to my mind as the best playmaking wingers. Only Kaprizov and Marner are on the same timeline though.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Joronto</b></div><div>Can not see Tatar signing at this price even if his agent wasn't able to figure something out yet. Nylander is much more effective on his strong side. If I would switch him just to try a perfection line with M&M. I would love to see Galch back. He worked quit well with Tavares and Willy. If Kase is healthy he has more value than a 4th line player. He could have a breakout season if there will be no more concussions. And Kämpf should be the 3rd Line Shoutdown center. Dubas didn't acquire him to put 1.5 M on scratches. A Mikheyev trade is much more likely than a Brooks trade. More useful, less expensive.</div></div>
In this scenario there are no 3rd 4th line distinction. One is offensive the other is defensive....you can call it utillity lines 1-2

Your say that with such authority. Sabres need players and picks for Jach Eichel. Usefull ones. Have you seen the recent trades made by NHL GMs? Have you seen the last trades the Sabres have made? Most of them are pretty bad, but the ones made by the Sabres stands out. This is more than reasonable lol. You can go wheat yourself.

What i wrote is a simplified way of understanding and a rule of thumbs way of looking at it. In reality it is way more complicated. Dubas and Pridham are moving people up and down right now to accrue as much as possible. It might not seem that way, but Freddie is injured(But not listed as such just yet) If Leafs can play Campbell, Hutchinson and Veihilainen the next week and a half. Then they can put Freddie Andersen on LTIR in retrospect, and have him come of it almost immediately. That way they have banked/accrued his cap hit(5m) (14 days) for trade deadline cap space . You cannot accrue cap if you are using the LTIR pool. All these paper transactions are done to stay as close to 81.5 mil as possible.

Hard Cap is fixed. But contracts count against the cap pr. day. If you don't use all your cap space for a period during a season then you basically bank the space you are under for later usage. It is quite complicated to explain. Look at the CBA in the menu

Kerfoot is smart, fast and versatile, but he is not a shooter and trading him and his cap hit is the only realistic chance the Leafs have of acquiring some shooting talent or size.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Barilko14</b></div><div>I consider Anderson to be worth a 2nd/3rd.
Personally, I wouldn't trade Dermott for Hjalmarsson straight up. I'm not giving up years of control of Dermott for less than half a year of Hjalmarsson. Between Brodie, Muzz, Holl, Bogo the Leafs have enough PKers/def dmen. Fit just doesn't work for me.</div></div>
I agree with what you say, they are both overpays. But you pay for insurance. I don't wanna see a playoff series were I have to resort to Marincin, Liljegren, Sandin instead of Muzzin, Brodie or Reilly. Then I would prefer to have an old but proven NHL shutdown D as backup. Besides either Dermott or Kerfoot are likely to be lost in the Expansion draft. Hill serves two two purposes. He has future potential, and is a much better option than Hutchinson should Campbell or Andersen go down.
