Meier w trade comps
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>glarson17</b></div><div>Fiala every team knew Minny couldn’t afford him so He got less. Yes I’m sure every team has homers but it’s really true, the sharks don’t have to trade him. There are players that were true rentals last year that got more than the comps here so that’s why it has to be a haul. Could also use Tkachuk as a comp but I don’t see that.</div></div>
Okay so there's 1 of 4 - and that did not stop Wild fans on this site saying that Guerin would figure out a way to keep him and move out other pieces instead, so even that doesn't actually detract from main point The point is that we have like, 5 or 6 RFA wingers recently who were all heavily rumored to be moved, all 5 or 6's trade value was "defended" on this site with the premise "we can just keep him if the offers are this bad", and only 1 was actually extended (Boeser, who looks like he might be traded for a trash return anyway)

This is the homer refrain for quite literally every RFA winger who is rumored to be on the market. And it never happens. But who knows, maybe Meier will be the one!

If we do trade for Meier it will probably be like the Holtz offer but maybe adding something. It's going to be a bidding war.

What would the package be
At worst:
(1) a first-round draft pick;
(2) Nikita Okhotiuk; and
(3) one of Walsh or Casey, depending upon negotiation skills.
All of which you can afford (especially if the pick is in 2024).

Tweaking some things after the W
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Erkadurk347</b></div><div>Not sure what ur watching and a lot of devils fans bc a bunch of people are saying what you are saying about Boqvist. Even tho he hasn’t been scoring, he’s been one of our most solid players. Great defensively, on the pk, and overall a smart player. I think he’s been excellent. We have other players that their job is to score. His job is to be a good two way center and making smart defensive plays. He’s shown flashes of making great offensive opportunities. Also shar has been trash as he is invisible when he isn’t on a two game goal streak. Doesn’t play hard and only has his shot that misses the net too much. I like Mercer and his play with Hughes. I could not disagree more about ur assessment of Boqvist and shar. Boq has been great while shar has been quite awful</div></div>
Boqvist has been great? He's been a blackhole offensively, he has 1 point in the last 20 games that's absolutely abysmal. He's supposed to be a 3C, his job is to play well defensively AND score some points, just playing good defense isn't enough to make up for his poor offense.
Sharangovich playing in the bottom 6 is going to score over 20 goals this year, he's miles ahead of Boqvist and it's not close.

Dynasty
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Mr_Gardoki</b></div><div>The Devils aren't coming close to a dynasty with that goaltending tandem. You can bet that.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>DevilsFan69</b></div><div>I mean, if Akira comes back up and keeps playing like he had been, it’s a possibility</div></div>
Though they aren’t the greatest goalies. Look at that defence, defence wins championships and that defence is very very good all-around, teams can’t score if the defence doesn’t give them high danger opportunities.
Hughes, nemec and Hamilton are and can potentially all be top 15 dmen at one point. Siegenthaler and Marino are both very good shutdown dman, it really doesn’t matter who their 6th dman is this team is stacked, their forward core also has a lot of guys who are very reliable in their own zone.
With how much the cap is supposed to go up and how many good deals NJ has right now I would not be surprised if they were a cup contender in 2 years time and form some what of a dynasty for 5-6 years did contract problems start to happen like what happens to all dynasty teams (Chicago, LA, Tampa)
This team definitely has the brightest future in the league

Wilson's not moving unless it's a large offer. I'd personally like to get Seamus Casey out of a Tom Wilson trade, but that's just me.

Lines with holtz making the team
Nice. If thats the top-6, I'd think it would more likely be:
Palat -- Hughes -- Mercer
Holtz -- Hischier -- Bratt
Holtz will hopefully get top-line spot eventually, he won't likely start there.
Hughes was talking less than 1/2 of the faceoffs on his own line at end of last year. If that continues, Sharangovich or Mercer might again be stapled to him.
Bratt plays RW...far better on right side.
Add Okhotiuk as 7th dman.

You've more or less got the lineup I'd want to see. Some things people do that bother me are play McLeod, play Holtz in the bottom 6 or not at all, keep Johnsson around, play Siegenthaler lower than he deserves to be, and sleep on Smith. You've done none of those.
Some extremely small nitpicks, Johnsson has a 10 team NTC which would prevent that trade, but that doesn't stop him from getting waiver claimed, and McLeod is good enough as a depth piece that I'd scratch him before I traded him for so little. Personally, I'd have Zetterlund making the team, and I'm not confident that Wood will ever be an NHL caliber player again.

NHL standing predictions
I could see an argument for literally any order of Metro teams between Carolina first and Philly last. Rangers lose Shesterkin, they're toast. Time could come for Washington/Pitt. Devils could pop off and finish second or fall on their faces again. Columbus could sail into the playoffs if they get even average defense, or they could be in the lottery with Philly. And the Islanders could jstu regress back UP to the mean and make it. Metro's the hardest division to predict for sure. Honestly, even Carolina could end up with the Leafs version of Andersen and find themselves sliding back into the pack, and I'd never bet against Torts getting his team to overachieve wildly.
