Hels both
If by helps both you mean is the worst trade the wings would have made in a decade you’re correct.
We’ll give you a seventh for Cauffield.

trade deadline
Another day another Petry to Detroit trade. Maybe the Jets can trade Kyle Connor to Detroit? He's from Michigan. He just HAS to be a Red Wing!
In the meantime...
Dekeyser to Habs for 3 1sts.

Please tell me you are joking. If Wings fans say not to Zadina for Petry, you come to the conclusion they will give up a 2022 1st. My god, are you kidding, because if not this is really bad.

How many times are Montreal fans going to trade Petry to us before they realize that we don't need or want him.
Especially if it costs us Zadina.

Deadline deal
A 2nd is probably too much and I think a 3rd is realistic with 50% retention.
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Bcarlo25</b></div><div>Even then i think it’s a third. Max. He can barely crack 18 minutes for the mighty red wings.</div></div>
Staal is averaging !8.16 min a game and he has logged 18min or more in 11 of the out of the 18 games he has played and he has put up 2g and 2a on a team that is having all kinds trouble scoring. Between our teams only McAvoy and Hronek are the only defensemen that have been more productive.
Now I'm not saying he is great this season but he is playing better than a lot of people think. I still think a 2nd is too much but a 3rd is fair especially if Detroit retains.

Top 4 D problem solved
Detroit isn't trading their best defenseman for a bottom 6 forward and a prospect who played 5 games in the NHL and then spent all of last season in the AHL.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Docbyars</b></div><div>I heard that as well, it wouldn't surprise me honestly, the buyout isn't terrible, the next two seasons the team isn't desperate for cap, and the extra two years is very minimal cap hit. Plus that fits the idea that the team can have players play the same role for less money.
And if arbitration gives Bert a one year deal then I believe he will still be an RFA at the end of it. (I haven't double checked that though.)</div></div>
With a Neilson buyout it will be more expensive in The 2021-22 season but I think its about the roster spot and trying to get players that are going to be around for a while into those spots right asap. All you have todo is file to open the 2nd window. The article below explains it very clearly.
<a href="https://blueseatblogs.com/2020/09/22/arbitration-opens-other-buyout-possibilities-for-ny-rangers/" rel="nofollow noreferrer noopener" target="_blank">Second buyout window.</a>

Just hopefully then these Mantha trades people post will be done with.</div></div>
Another Wing's fan pointed out that Bertuzzi's arbitration might be planed to open up the 2nd buyout window and with the addition of Namestnikov there is no reason to keep Neilson.

Anything better than now
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>palhal</b></div><div>Sorry, you don't understand cap space and LTIR. Z's LTIR would not affect the Leafs or any teams cap space. Why would anyone think it's true?</div></div>
Because every writer, Asst GM, analyst, etc. says it will, for one (CapFriendly has a nice writeup about the LTIR portion of the CBA here: <a href="https://www.capfriendly.com/ltir-faq">https://www.capfriendly.com/ltir-faq</a>, or you can read the TSN article I posted above). Two, look at there current setup, and tell me how LTIR isn't helping them? Right now, they have $91.5 million in active players (if you don't count Mik and Johnsson). How are they able to do that without LTIR (which is giving them 10.5mm in space over the cap)?
Next year, they have almost $77 committed to 16 players. Approximately $4.5 mm remaining to sign a minimum of 5 players (required to have 21 players on your roster). They can go 10% over the cap in the offseason but have to be cap compliant on day 1 of the season. If they take on Z's $6mm, and they use that $4.5mm to get to the ceiling, and then put Z on LTIR, clearing another $6mm off their cap (like they did this season with Horton and Clarkson clearing 10.5).

Detroit Sucks
This trade is never going to happen. The title Detroit Sucks is that the best you can come up with? I guess I can understand why you would be bitter the closest Buffalo got to a cup was 1998-99 when Hasek carried the team to with in one win of the cup. Then he goes to Detroit and wins 2, but that was a long time ago might be best to let it go.
