Tatar and Petry
Without the harshness... I think the cost will be much higher for either of those two or would get you Tatar only. Agreed that Those two would fit well in Nashville but when considering what those two are worth to the habs I think you need to start with your best prospect, and a first rounder to get some short attention and then add (probably a lot) to entice Bergevin to risk another year without playoff. Good fit for Nashville but it would have to be almost surrealistic to make enough sense for Mtl.

Who wants a Tuna Tatar
<a href="/users/DiehardRedWingsFan58" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@DiehardRedWingsFan58</a>, I though Tatar returned a 1st a 2nd and a 3rd to Vegas... not saying that his near ppg pace should make is value that much higher but I would have though that we could at least pry out one of those even if that meant adding a second ourselves... Otherwise what if Domi was the bait?

<a href="/users/Dylan1995" target="_blank" rel="noreferrer noopener">@Dylan1995</a>, Especially considering the value EDM was evaluating Larsson :tonguewink . Jokes aside that was my expectation too... it's just that Habs can't quite cash in on Petry unless they have a better RD pool... hence this thread.

Tatar to Edmonton
Value sounds fair from MTL side... can't say from EDM's point of view though... this said, I'd prefer Bouchard :)

Does MTL do this deadline deal
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BurgerBoss</b></div><div>Never suggest a mediocre deal to Habs fan. After that, they only get satisfied by absolutely fleecing the other participant of the trade lol.
To be fair, I don't see neither MTL or DAL taking it. MTL because it isn't worth it, DAL because they have $1M left in cap space (minus Hanzal provided he's put to LTIR), meaning that they can't really afford take Tatar...</div></div>
I think McFaksaGOAT mentioned "at the deadline" so that would likely mitigate that cap issue you refer to. On my side, I think the issue is that Montreal is probably on the bubble; waiting to see if it gels to know if they are seller or not. While they may be willing to receive long term assets (their prospect pool being quite good currently) they probably do see a lot a value in a not-too-old, prolific and defensively-sound top 6 winger like Tatar. The price would likely not be below a mid 1st rounder, not so much because they need to fleece other teams or that it reflects Tatar's market value but because it reflect it's current value to the Canadiens.

Remake open for discussion
Funny enough I had the same questioning and started receiving stones. I think Rittich is a tad too risky at this point has netminder consistency over multiple seasons make the difference between a journeyman and a real starter. Also, I don't feel Calgary is enough in a win-now situation to actually pay enough for MTL to accept, or at least I would not accept if MB. I like Hanifin but he hasn't proved he could be an elite D (even though all his tools screams it) and don't know enough about Valimaki.

He's left-handed but played on is off-side lately... not sure if it is due to preference or simply a surplus of good left-D.

I don't think Laine fit's what MTL is building at all. Don't see why people are so enticed about him. Unidimensional players are an odd commodity that I would always prefer to part with than acquire... personally.

Montreal
I think Mtl agrees. I am not as hyped about Brodie as many are on this site but it would trade a promising right D for a proven left D something that both teams respectively have plenty of. I don't think we need to add Weise's burden from MTL's perspective to make it attractive but if you want him... Also, don't put Armia on your Top line ;) He's good, reliable, creates space but he doesn't have the speed to keep up with Monahan and Tkachuk.

What is Price and Drouin worth
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>TJTwolf</b></div><div>To give an idea of what I'd guess at as value, and we're assuming in this that the Avs improve or at least stay level with last season's showing, and if MTL are looking for a LD. I believe whilst Meloche is right handed he plays a lot on the left and he's French Canadian (and I know that really means little but MTL have historically favoured signing Fr-Can boys for obvious reasons) so maybe 1st 2020 plus Meloche (or Josh Anderson as another option). Forwards you're probably looking at Greer/Kamenev types. It's a bit of a downgrade on what MTL gave up to get him but fair value I would say, on current form/showing so far. Especially with the pick unprotected as the Avs would hope/expect it to be middle to lower end of the draft but if COL fall back (and it's possible with the loss of Barrie's production at the back end and a very young D), then they could make a steal.</div></div>
Very fair. Thanks.

Let's agree to disagree on those two, I think the NHLPA and player's poll disagrees with ya as well ;) . But those trades aren't meant to be fair to start with. Please look at all trades for Marner, McDavid, Crosby and Laine to see delusion too. Was just curious if Price would bring the same craziness but good to know it doesn't at all for you.

Dude my comment was a little **** I admited but your evaluation of players and teams needs are way off IMO. Drouin's value right now is low by the way. Just read the other comment...</div></div>
Oh... all are overvalued for sure... who calls someone else starting at a low price? Think MB called GM and said would you give me a few puck and a seventh for Pacioretty? I get that some see Drouin's value to be low but that's because you follow habs and we are disappointed he didn't do more but he's still an electrifying young, relatively cheap, French speaking, third overall and I've not lost hope yet. And excuses accepted ;)

I certainly agree with you! That's why I would have made the trade ;) See, trade are generally won when people misjudge the value of assets... and I see Dallas is not buying the "Good goalkeeper is a scarcity". Also, you're late on the cap comment about Dallas as I didn't knew Hanzal was on LTIR, but right nonetheless.

I live in your world too budy... I don't want to part with any so please counter offer for Drouin but he is not worth a 2nd rounder. Also, atrocious... for whom? I would trade Price for any of those packages because I feel that he is slightly overvalued but if you think he's worth more than that that's good information... Atrocious on its own is useless at best.

Assuming Hanzel is on LTIR that's whack more cap going to Dallas and what a terrible trade for Dallas for on ice talent.</div></div>
See, I did not go deep enough on those two ones... Trying to add more example to build a case but agreed that Caps and Stars aren't great dance partners. But it shows how much you (rightfully) value Bishop.

Lol, I'm not trying to make trades ala NHL or what not, just trying to get a feel for the "elite" goaltender value which I don't buy at all in. Price being arguably the best goaltender in the world, I wanted to see what kind of return he could mean (while getting back a decent netminder in return). I get that some trades may look worst than others but I more looking at a base to discuss then if those would go straight up or not.
Also, please add some rationale to those comments when possible as a (those trades are bad) don't mean much... The only value to a site like this (other than making sure our pseudo-GM moves even make cap sense) is to get a feel for each teams perceived value of assets are.
