He shouldn’t have to, it should be really obvious. Contending teams don’t trade top four d men for nothing. They really don’t do it if the team is losing the other two left side d on the roster. You’re just ignoring completely what boston would be looking for in a trade.

I would pull the trigger on that for sure. Would probably have to involve a pick going back I would think.

Hahaha, you’re not serious are you?
You actually have the bruins giving you value for that dumpster fire of a contract? My goodness. And at the position they have the least amount of need at no less.
Eat half the contract, take out coyle, add in Moore and it’s maybe a conversation.

yeah I'd argue Kerfoot is hella better than kappy. Plays centre, more term, he actually found success in our top 6, kills penalties. I kinda hope the leafs keep him, it's hard to find versatile guys like that that don't break the bank

Overrated Players IMO
Tavares nearly won the rocket richard last year, and this year despite a broken hand/oblique injury/general injury problems was still point per game. His contract is a lot though, he'd better perform otherwise yeah, he's overpaid/overrated. But to this point, as a leaf, I'd say he's met expectations
Reilly had injury problems this year but last year at 25 he was the best 5v5 offensive defenseman in the league. If we give him a good d partner (as opposed to literal boat anchors) he'll be OP as hell, and at $5M AAV it's a steal
Freddy, yeah he's overrated

Can't see Vegas wanting all that additional cap. If Smith wants to stay on a good team as opposed to poor one, he can block any trade with his M NTC

Barkov should be the target. Bergeron/Barkov contract expire at same time. Bruins would have plenty of cap space to sign Barkov. Fits the Bruins mold and a perfect player to replace Bergeron.

Obviously a bit low but the market may not develop this year because A) teams don't have cap space, B) lots of teams don't have cash, and C) the teams that have one don't have the other (Toronto has money upfront but no space, Colorado has space but not lots of money, STL doesn't seem to have either, etc.) I think Montreal is the only landing spot where he could get paid well but I don't know if they even want him now that they locked Edmundson in.</div></div>
What makes you think Colorado doesn’t have cash?

I don't think Kerfoot is worth a 2nd AND a 3rd, maybe a 2nd to a team with multiple 2nds.
The Wings C Depth is woof. Kerfoot is not a 2nd line C, he is properly slotted as a 3C.
I expect Det to deal with TB, perhaps Tyler Johnson as 2C would work well. Why the heck is Det allergic to Right Shot forwards? Only Glendenning on the NHL roster and only 2 in the prospect pool, including those on the reserve list.
That is a major issue for the franchise IMO.

Not going to bother commenting on these trades but there will be alot of owners who will want guys like Riemer, Andersen and other players whose actual salary is much lower than the cap hit.
FYI: most of the Leafs roster has players that have big signing bonuses paid already and actual salary owed is way less than the cap hit.
With COVID well and thriving, I expect revenues for owners to be way lower for this coming season and that's where contracts with huge signing bonuses paid comes in for owners who are looking to cut actual cost.

A lot of people keep forgetting that Andersen is old just $1M for the year... it doesn't seem like a lot but for some teams, it's worth overpaying for. Especially if you've been told you're only allowed spending so much money next year

Too much money in that pressbox though.</div></div>
Addition by subtraction - the team is literally worse with Ceci on the ice. Barrie at least had some offensive upside, but he was still terrible defensively. The two WORST parts of toronto's defence are gone this year
I see the leafs just signing a budget free agent and taking some cap space into the season, letting it accrue, and maybe making a trade after evaluating the team/young guys like sandin etc.

In flat cap land that isn't happening. I'm also not convinced any of the options out there are better.</div></div>
It would entirely depend on the money he wants. I think management wants a shakeup, and goaltending is one of those areas they feel comfortable doing it. Even if they went for a cheaper tandem approach as opposed to a clear #1/#2.
It's tricky bc yeah, I get nervous moving freddy because he HAS been really good, but it's also taboo to give a 30+ goalie big money and term. It almost never works out. If they can get a cheap free agent for $3-3.5M this summer, that's 1.5 available to spend on defence, or it's an extra forward for depth scoring etc.

barzal os
Honestly, idec if it's a defencemen, Kyle Dubas allocating another $10M of the cap to a single player would be an abject failure. This would mean 2/3 of the D corps would be at league min, and the entire bottom 6 would have to be league min, as well as a goaltending tandem that couldn't surpass the standard AAV of a starting goaltender ($4-5M)
I'd've rather kept Kadri at 4.5 than trade him and get Barzal at 10.5

No one of those guys is a superstar, not even a star.
If you want Eichel, I think the coversation should start with Pasternak + something</div></div>
Pasta + are you sure about that? Pasta is an elite scorer that just co-led the league in goals, who over the last 3 years is 2nd in the leauge in goals, trailing only Ovie. Oh and on top of that he is a $6.6 million cap hit. I don't know if I'd do Pasta for Eichel straight up, I certainly wouldn't say it would be Pasta +
