<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>chara isn't signing with the penguins. If he doesn't sign in boston he'll probably retire.

B. that's an awful trade for a top 4 young defenseman proven to be able to play at the NHL level.
There is no way they accept that.
Now if you want to talk about Matheson I'm more than willing to listen to offers. But they ain't moving Pettersson.</div></div>

Pettersson is good but expendable. The trade essentially loses Pettersson and Sceviour and brings in Granlund and Chara.

Chara and his agent said they are going over all options. I think you could see him sign with a contender for the right price. Chara is still elite because he brings aspects of his game that no other player in the league can bring. Is he going to be dancing around scoring 15 goals a year? No. But, he can play a PK/Shutdown role for 20 minutes a night at an elite level still. if Chara doesn`t sign then either promote POJ and/or sign another UFA D. Pens are not going to trade Matheson after just getting him. Plus no other team is taking him without taking a similar contract back. Bet on him to bounce back.

Are you going to argue this team is not better from the trade/signings? Take advantage of the market. EDM needs a dman now with Klefbom out. Granlund can be signed at a discount and turn out to be an absolute STEAL. Chara brings huge value at $3m even at age 43. The intangibles alone are worth that. He could be the second hardest working player in the league behind 87. Leadership. Size. Toughness.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>pharrow</b></div><div>there are rumors, but nothing that isn't just clickbait.
You can simply do a google search you'll see them.

I think the real issue right now, for most players that aren't already signed, is cap. They aren't getting the contract they want and think someone will cave. But the reality is, most teams are 6 weeks from hockey or so, given 2 weeks for training camp, might be longer. Which isn't giving teams a whole lot of time if they are going to have a Jan 1st start to get in their 90 games for NBC. So if you were going to see moves, my guess is you'd be seeing them now. But most teams are more focused on signing RFAs and after that there isn't much cap left.
So you see guys like Hoffman waiting for a better offer. Everyone else right behind them. You add to that teams facing the reality that their prospects aren't getting ice time as minor league are canceling, and that anyone even remotely good enough to play should probably join the team to play and develop. You add those two together and it spells problem for most teams trying to make it work. Players like Poulin and Legare could very well make this team. Because neither has anywhere to get game time in now. Both don't need time to physically develop they are already 200lb+. Both are plenty fast enough and if anything as close to being ready to make the jump as can be given the situation. Hell Legare looked great in camp last year.
Which is why I don't think you are going to see either of these two in Pittsburgh unless they are taking a pay cut. Because they don't really have cap anywhere other than Matheson. And other teams are in the same boat as the penguins, If they have holes they need to fill, they are probably looking at their prospects. To both A. save cap and real money given the short fall, and B. give them ice time to develop. Because sitting around isn't going to make them better hockey players.</div></div>

You`re not wrong. A lot of teams are going to do this especially with internal budgets. BUT I think the Pens jump on this is Granlund will sign for that amount. The potential is too high here. Great fit on PP. This has the potential to turn this team from playoff team to contender if it works out well.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Penguins21</b></div><div>And did u ever play hockey?? Or understand how hard it is for a winger to play his off side?? Yes, not as difficult as D. Cause on D. Your forehand is always in the middle of the ice on your Forehand. And on D, that’s obvioulsy bad. Bad to have the puck and pass the puck in the middle of the ice in their zone. And to clear up the boards, you are always on your back-hand. Playing on your strong side, you can clear up the boards on your forehand and just an easy wrister. Left-handed D playing the Right side is very tough. Or vice a versa.

But on offense the advance is shooting. If you are playing your off-side, you are shooting your forehand in the middle of the ice. But still, not just an easy transition. Especially, a young player that has been playing his strong side growing up and always cause he always been the top player in his team.

Carrying the puck up. You don’t have the boards to protect the puck like you do on your strong side. You have to be very strong to do that. Like OVI. The best right-handed shot I’ve ever seen play the Left-side. But that’s cause he is so strong. Guenzel/Zucker are not. They play on their strong side.

And when taking a pass from the D, along the boards. Skating up the ice. You have to receive the puck on your backhand, pick it up and switch to your forehand continue skating up the ice, faster than everyone else..lol.

The only reason Guentzel/Zucker do have a Rw on this site is my guess cause he does play the Right side on the power play. Cause like I said, the forehand shot advantage being in the middle of the ice on your weak side. But keeping the puck in the zone along the boards, like for offensive on the PP, keeping the puck on-sides, you have to play along the boards w/ your back hand. Very hard. Again, another very big disadvantage for D playing the opposite side. You can’t just stop the puck along the boards on your forehand and rist it back into the zone. You have to stop it on your backhmad. And players usually pick it up and switch it to their forehand and rist it back along the boards. But that takes a lot of practice, or skill and good footwork too.

It’s not as easy as just saying you can play the RW, it’s the same thing. It’s not at all. It would be like telling a baseball player, hey, switch and hit lefty. We need more lefties in our line-up against a RH pitcher..lol. Not that easy. And to make switch in the MLB, against MLB players and MLB pitchers and after playing growing up and your whole career batting right-handed.</div></div>

Man what are you talking about? That had nothing to do with my comment. You just wasted so much time writing something that just about anyone who has played hockey understands. Can you also explain to me what offsides are?

I guarantee I played higher hockey than you also.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Penguins21</b></div><div>That drives me nuts. You do know it’s been a Guentzel/Malkin/Rust line for 3 years now.?? 4 years if u count 16-17 when it was Rust after Kessel moved down to the HBK line(3rd line). Why break up that line?? It’s set. They have been building chemistry for 3 years now. Let’s worry about Crobsy’s Line. We been looking for his wingers since 15-16 and it was Kunitz/Crosby/Dupree. Well, 16-17 it was Kunitz/Crosby/Hornqvist and that was good too. Won a SC.

But we’ve been looking for Crosby’s LW for years. It’s always been that Simon/Sherry/Sprong mix. Last year when we brought in Zucker. He scored 6 goals and 10 points in 11 games on Crosbys line. We tried him on Malkins line and broke up the Guentzel/Malkin/Rust combo, it was a disaster. Zucker has 0 goals and 1 point in 4 games. Guenzel/Malkin/Rust in set. And our 4th line when Z.A.R comes back(Tanev/Blueger/ZAR) Let’s work on the Crosby line and our 3rd line. Although we are gonna give the Zucker/Crosby/Kappy line a shot and see how that works this year. And they are the 2 best wingers Crosby has had in along time. And if neither or Kappy don’t step-up. Crosby has been carrying his own line for years and can do it again.</div></div>

You have no idea what you`re talking about and are completely wrong on that. Sid and Guentzel have played together whenever both are healthy and will continue to do that. Rutherford even said so like a week ago it would be Guentzel-Sid-Kap.

You know absolutely nothing.
