Playoff Roster

Here's some facts on Horvat...and why the Leafs and any team should be wary of overpaying for him at TDL or next season
43 points in 38 games. Historically he's a 65 point player 13 of those points on the PP. 24% shooting percent (historically 12%). 20 minutes a game
Now take the maligned Kerfoot of the Leafs. 19 points only two on PP., 15 minutes a game and better plus/minus
Horvat wouldn't be getting all that PP time with the Leafs, so it looks like on regular strength or PK, Horvat is out scoring Kerfoot by 11 points this season. Take that over a half season if the Horvat trade was done now, Horvat would outscore Kerfoot by 11 to 14 points. Now what is the premium the Leafs should give up for that? Not nearly as much as so many think.

Playoff Roster
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>OldNYIfan</b></div><div>Not jesting from Vancouver's point of view. I'll bet that's what they'd be asking; they'd turn down the two young defensemen alone. Regardless, Toronto shouldn't be looking at expensive rentals in general and Bo Horvat in particular, because the Maple Leafs couldn't possibly re-sign him and his explosive season looks a lot like Corey Perry's MVP year to me.</div></div>
I agree what you’re saying about Torontos point of view, but I would think Vancouver would be all over that. They need defensemen and don’t seem to want to fully rebuild so Sandin and especially Lili (they need RD) would probably be very enticing to them.

You're short a first in the Horvat deal.
What use does San Jose have for Alex Kerfoot? But they might take a lower draft pick for Merkley.</div></div>

I dont think that this deal is really what either team is looking for, Canucks want more pieces and have potential for futures and the leafs arent looking to completely get rid of one of their D pairings, they might do one of them and a 1st but I would be shocked if they dealt both of them

He’s a good player, but vastly over rated when you (or another canuckle fan) think you’re going to get back a future (maybe this year) top 4 rhd , our top prospect + 1st. Dude is a FA (& turning 30) and is a one year rental for most competing teams. Just mo, but literally zero chance anyone pays close to that for miller. Lilligren & Knies are off the table; maybe 1st + top 5 prospect (but not Knies) and even then I wouldn’t do it

Agree with your pints, except I am not sure chykrun is top pair dman. Maybe top 4 on a contending team. Hard to know given the barnyard fire that is the coyotes but by my “ eye test” alone, he’s not better than Brodie

The guy has had 1, 30 goal season. His 99 points last yr. was 27 more points than is 2nd best yr. and 38 more than his 3rd best yr. Canuck management haven't moved him because nobody will pay what they are asking.

No from the Isles, they do not want Muzzin and his contract. And most likely Muzzin does not waive.

Balanced roster
Chicago is rebuilding. They don’t have need for either assets being sent. Picks and prospects are the only value to them. Turning around and flipping Nylander and Kerfoot makes no sense when they could just get the assets they want for Kane in the first place.
But in the end it is Chicago so who knows…

If Flames are flipping Hubredeau
Ya this doesn’t make any sense. If you wanna add hubredeau you wait out the situation and see if the flames become sellers this year. You add him around the deadline at half retained for picks and prospects to go all in on this playoff run.
Just about every contender would wanna make that deal tho so price would be high for a rental.

Unfortunately I don’t see a scenario where Tavares gets moved. Great player and if not for Covid and the flat cap, his contract wouldn’t look quite as bad. I believe Tavares has been and still is a vital piece of this roster and should have a much better year this year if he can get a playmaker on his wing.</div></div>
1 year of Huberdeau for 2 years of Nylander and those assets?! At what point is this more about Nylander being gone than Huberdeau being here

That's so bad for the leafs., not only is huberdeau older and with less term, he's not gonna score like he did last year and his extension is going to be terrible. Oh and if you hate Nylander's defensive and physical efforts, you're gonna want to ship huberdeau to the center of the earth for his

With Mikey Anderson and Sean Durzi to re-sign (giving us 7 defensemen) and 14 forwards under contract already (plus Gabe Vilardi to re-sign), any trades from this point on will have to be at least cap-neutral and roster-neutral, and this one is neither. And trading Jake Muzzin away would be a mistake.

Toronto fans, what do you want for Willy?
I saw the Gourde tradeable made me think of this
NJ:
Nylander
Holl/ Muzzin
Toronto:
Sharangovich
Severson
Just a baseline. I feel that Rango is a Gourde type player

I don't think there's going to be any way to get him out of Calgary before his arbitration hearing. This season, he's going to have a 1 year @ $9.5M-10M contract, and whoever acquires him can try to extend him to a long term deal on January 1.
