3 way wOttawa and Buffalo
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Shibbal18</b></div><div>You're very wrong on Pominville and Guhle and Pominville wouldn't be taking Callahan's spot. Tampa has 2 top 4 LHD already signed for a long time, Guhle, as you said is top 4 at best (he's definitely a top 4 dman), would be locked into a bottom pair role anyway with rfa control for 5 more years.</div></div>
Actually, you're pretty wrong on both. & I'm willing to bet that your a bias Sabres fan. Pominville is at best an average defender. He's more of an offensive guy. Callahan is one of Tampa's key PK guys that plays physical, that's not Pominville's game. & Pominwille would probably be playing 4th line RW as Joseph plays 3rd line RW and the 4RW is Callahan's spot so he's literally taking his spot and not providing the same role.
& again, you're wrong on Guhle. he may be a top 4 in the future, that's not a lock. if there was a better chance, he'd be in the NHL already on a consistent basis. He's not a lock for any spot on Tampa with Hedman, McDonagh, and Sergachev already on the left side, sure one of them can play the right side, but it doesn't make sense to play one of them on their off side when they already have Stralman and Cernak in the top 4 on the right side.
All this does for Tampa is clear cap space when they don't need to yet. They can move Miller, or Killorn, or Johnson or someone at the draft and get much better value cause there will be more teams bidding on them.
so again, you're not making any sense. Tampa declines with ease as I've said all along. Please stop replying now. You're wasting my time trying to prove your bias, untrue facts.

Certainly a sabres fan.... this deal is horrible for Ottawa, short sighted for Tampa and great for buffalo. How buffalo gets that 1st is beyond me.

Thread:
3 way wOttawa and Buffalo
Let me get this straight...
Buffalo gives up:
Pominville (an aging veteran who's way past his prime)
Okposo (cap dump)
Elie (at best a 4th line player)
Guhle (B level prospect)
O'Regan (a career AHLer)
and they get back
Smith
Ryan
Miller
Foote
1st round pick
are you for real here? .. this has to be the worst 3 way deal ever thought of. None of what Buffalo is giving up gets Miller alone, or Foote, or a 1st. You're not even close on this idea.

Kap Tanev TDL
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>playercoachreggiedunlop</b></div><div>If its going to be Bracco + then you need to make that pick a 1st for retention. Kap is a Proven NHLer something the canucks need, not another AHL guy.</div></div>
If that is the case I'd happily keep Bracco and use him next season and make the trade Kapanen for Tanev at half value.

Saddle up pt 1
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>playercoachreggiedunlop</b></div><div>They are going to be basically high 2nd rounders so ya they will.</div></div>
I think the Leafs would counter with a 2nd and maybe Rosen but if it needs to be a first to get the retention, that is something I think they would do. Personally, I would jump at the chance of getting Tanev for half price. The guy is exactly what they want for the club. A defensive defenceman who is right handed and can kill penalties.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>BStockHockey</b></div><div>... I like the CAR deal but Canucks fans need to realize that to get rid of Eriksson's bad contract you have to take on those other bad contracts & won't get the draft picks coming back the other way ... probably just better to keep him at this point</div></div>
I agree with you about taking on a bad contract to get rid of a bad contract. Would it make sense for Edmonton & Vancouver to do a deal like Lucic for Eriksson straight up? For Edmonton they are lose a year of a bad contract and Vancouver gets a hometown guy who adds some physicality to the lineup. Maybe Edmonton takes on $1M of Lucic's contract because Vancouver is taking the worse of the contracts. Just a thought.
I really like the Carolina deal. I think it works perfectly for both teams and fills needs for both teams. Well done!!

I think the only way that TO can afford Tanev is if half his salary is retained. Would changing from 2 2nds to a 1st and a 2nd make that happen?

Sabres don't have the cap space and they wouldn't do it. because according to Sabres fans, 9pts in 31 games, makes Mittelstadt untouchable

that is the most fair assessment I've seen of Okposo - a SOLID 3rd liner in today's NHL. unfortunately he is making top 6 money...

Bottom 6 Checkers; Top 6 Scorers
Lol, this site is hilarious.
No matter what you propose there is always a Leaf homer to say no way that guy is worth anything less than 18 first round picks.
Also I'm a Leafs fan, and while I feel this trade for Tanev is steep, I'd probably take that deal. I think Carrick and Orziganov can play well enough to replace Zaitsev and Tanev is a huge upgrade, especially at half his salary.

What happens if you trade Tanev to FLA instead of Gudbranson? Also include a 2019 3rd round pick from VAN. Does that get Bjugstad? I think it's close. Also I don't mind Pouliot and Gudbranson as a bottom 6 pairing.
