<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>GirouxCrew</b></div><div>Jones has a M-NTC so he can eliminate 10 teams he doesn’t want to go to. And that’s a great point on the draft picks. They may want a quicker turnaround time on those picks though since the state of the franchise has been going downhill quickly with Panarin, Duchene, Bobrovski and now Jones all leaving. They need to give the fans something to be excited about quickly. Even though I know next years draft is projected to have more top end talent</div></div>
Not just even more so about talent in the draft - because I expect a PHI pick probably would be mid-to-late first round, so it’s not like it’s going to be an elite level prospect. It’s more so just about lining up contract timelines, as well as some personal superstition - last time CBJ had three 1st round picks, it didn’t go so well.

I can think of probably 31 teams who would love to have him. They’ll get “full” value, whatever that may be.
And this is a pretty good trade here. If Joonas is included, I’d probably ask for an additional 2nd or 3rd, and I’d prefer the picks not be for 2021, simply as a matter of not wanting to load up too much in one draft.

Seattle would take Haag, Laughton first. to take JVR they would need a sweetener
As much as I would love to have Jones that package is not getting it done. If Jones was a Flyer is that the kind of package you would want from Columbus?
Vancouver trade is interesting but I just don't know that much about Brock to know if he is an upgrade
At this point Id rather have Ghost than Risto, at least he's cheaper
Love the Calgary trade, I think they would do it but would want salary retention and/or Patrick Nolan
No need to trade Braun, he's cheap and a great locker room guy and very serviceable

Swing for the fences
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Viqsi</b></div><div>While that's a fair attempt for Jones, I really don't think it benefits the Jackets to trade him unless we're getting that #1C.</div></div>
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Viqsi</b></div><div>There possibly isn't. The point is less "we're going to trade him for a #1C" and more "we're not trading him unless we get this thing we badly need, because the plan is to keep him."</div></div>
The crux of the problem is we don’t know his intentions. Is he willing to stay? Then don’t trade him. If he wants out, then we have to change our approach. We shift from a retool to a rebuild. We would need to start collecting young pieces to either build around or trade for more draft and prospect capital. We wouldn’t be needing a 1c at that point as he would be out of his prime by the time we are competing again. (Unless eichel but he’ll want out too if we’re rebuilding). Trade Jones for a collection of young players and high draft picks. Like this trade. And trade Zach for a young center man like turcotte or perfetti. Answers need to be had before the draft so we can then draft a defenseman (good defenseman draft year) to replace them in the future as the goal would be to flip Zach for a center prospect and obtain the other 1c prospect in the next years draft. This is going to be either a retool where we move out a first and roster player for a top 6 center man, or we just decide to tear it down and start again with a wealth of riches.

We don't <strong>need</strong> "multiple young pieces", though (that describes two thirds of the current roster), and "flip them for what you REALLY want" is how teams get ripped off.

If we trade with Philly, I wanna Frost, 1st and no JVR's money back in the deal.
P.S. I like your idea to trade for Tkachuk (not the trade itself) to revive that Broad Street Bullies feeling. You need more gritty players IMO.

I think that's a huge overpay for Ehlers. Both him and Ghost are good cost controlled players who had bad years. They both address team needs. I don't think you need the 11th pick to balance the deal, that's a huge price - that pick, in this draft, should get you a player at least on Ehlers level in a few years.

I don't know enough about Vorobyov to know if he makes up the difference, I just know that I got it from Edmonton fans who think RNH is a 70 point a year player. He is good but he is a product of Mcdavid more than anything, so I don't personally feel his value is over high but they do.

No I don't have a proposal. As a Detroit fan I would perfectly happy if they did nothing but draft this offseason. I've been watching the Trouba drama and a bunch of the proposals involving the Flyers have Patrick as part of the deal. I've seen people saying he's untouchable and I wasn't sure an d that's why I asked. Thank you for the response.

Also my knowledge of Eastern Conference defensemen is lacking. So Ghost may well be worth more than I think.
