<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Quillanrocks</b></div><div>Come on, if he's healthy (and motivated?), Ellis is such an upgrade on Barrie. Only reason Barrie is still an Oiler at all is you lost Larsson to Seattle and gave up on Bear.

Reality is the Oilers will have a near impossible task of re-signing Kane, anyway. With goaltending still a question mark and quality RFA's to consider, I can't see a way to get it all done unless EDM eats it in trades to remove Kassian and probably Foegele from the books. Can't see Kane taking too much of a pay cut given his situation and the season/playoffs he's had.</div></div>

I will have to side with CD282 on this one. If you move Barrie, it will be to clear cap, not take any on. Why would we play one of Ellis, Ceci, Bouchard on the bottom pair when they are all top 4 guys? Having a 3-6M guy on the third pair isn’t ideal, and Ceci is looking good on the top 4. If we didn’t have Ceci I would see why Holland may go for a guy like Ellis, but we don’t need him as much as some people think. I believe Kane will sign with the oilers and he may take a discount, because he has to remember that he is also playing beside Connor McDavid, and without him he wouldn’t be playing this well. Also, he sounds like a reasonable guy so far in Edmonton. I would like to upgrade goaltending, but I don’t see that possibly as Smith will definitely not retire now. I believe this was the season that was the deciding factor about if Smith was going to retire, or stay. Now, I bet you he will stay. We are in the conference finals. He will definitely want another shot at the cup.
