If CBO allowed - Heres what I do
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>sabres1108</b></div><div>yeah like why would the islanders possibly do this trade</div></div>
As a Habs fan, just wanted to add a gritty fourth line center who was younger than Thompson. I would assume that the Isles will have to shed some salary next year if they want to resign Barzal. And if they decide to revisit the Parise-Ladd deal, they'll need some room. They could easily resign Brassard at the same price to be their 4th line center. Not familiar with the Isles depth and line up structure.

You could obviously but I really don't think it's necessary for the Habs to do that. Alzner wouldn't get a contract anywhere else, he should be happy to collect is full contract in the minors where he can still play.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>RobbStark03</b></div><div>Are we ready to trade every player that aren't on pace for a Career Year? I don't know what games you have been watching but Domi has been far from great this season. He has been extremely lazy in the defensive zone and hasn't had the same patience and puck awareness in the offensive zone as he did last year. On top of that, the three games audition on LW with Suzuki at center was very revealing about his character and hockey IQ. For a guy that's played LW for most of his career, he suddenly looked lost on the ice and according to some MTL reporters, basically said he didn't want to play LW. That smells like selfishness and that's not something MTL should want in their lineup.

<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Jack_</b></div><div>They were a very good even strength team last year and so far this year. Their powerplay was one of the worst last year and the year before. To make the playoffs you need good special teams. I cant stress enough how bad their powerplay is. Teams will start covering Weber and they wont have any other options. 2 defenseman on the powerplay doesnt work anymore, that's why almost every other team doesnt do that</div></div>
As an FYI, even though its a small sample size, Habs are tied for the 6th best PP in the league after 4 games - 33.3%. They never reached higher than 18% at any point last year. I would say its a much improved PP. What sucks this year is their PK.

AS PER RUMOURS
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>Gofnut999</b></div><div>Nope, does Preds no good. They want to dump Turris to be able to sign Josi/Granlund. Adding Alzner defeats the purpose.</div></div>
Just basing myself on rumors I've read. But looking at their cap space for next year, the Preds would have about $25-26M to sign guys. Bases on Johansen/Duchene contracts, Josi not likely to get more than $8-8.5M per year and Granlund shouldn't be getting more than $6-6.5M per season. Buyout Alzner after next year would cost less I believe than a potential buyout of Turris in 2-3 yrs. And let's not forget that Poile basically gave away Subban (two 2nd round picks and scraps) to sign Duchene. I think he'll do something similar with Turris to get 5 yrs at $6M per off the books.

What Vegas could do - players to keep

I don't disagree. I think it will depend on the return they could get. Smith could be really enticing for a lot of teams. Eakin would be a great 3C on most top end teams. One of those teams that has some prospects or picks galore, could overpay to get Eakin in their line up. I think Smith gets you at least a 2nd rounder plus a B+/A- prospect and minor leaguer.

Possibly. However, since Patches as 15 team no trade list, it will be interesting to see if any of those can a) fit him under their cap and b) actually want him. Vegas may try to trade Patches but I think they may be stuck with him. And Vegas can't retain any salary on the deal, which will make it even tougher for them to rid of.

I don't pretend to know everything and I'm certainly not trying to be disrespectful but I've seen the same post from you for the last month and a half. Duchene is not signing in MTL. And as a Habs fan, wouldn't want him in our locker room. I live in Ottawa and the persistent rumor here is that Duchene will resign with the Sens if he doesn't stay in Columbus. Reading the comments above, looks like you deleted your typical Tatar for Leddy deal. Why are you always trying to trade Tatar? The fun part about this site is being creative and getting different feedback. It's not always well thought out feedback but at least you see different perspective. You just keep posting the same thing every second or so. Come on man.....

People are forgetting
There is no need for Poehling and Suzuki to be in the NHL next season. Just look at what happen to KK after Xmas, he ran out of gas because he's never played more than 45 games in a season in Europe. Poehling will be in the same scenario, they don't play more than 40 games a season. The NHL is a different grind altogether. I'd rather both Poehling and Suzuki dominant in the AHL for half or full season before jumping to the show.

Like I stated in the description, not a fan of either team so don't really know what Sissons is worth. I'll leave it to Preds fans to decide that. The idea of the trade is to get rid of Subban's 9M/year contract and add speed and skill in your top 6.

Is Eberle a fit
Eberle absolutely a fit in MTL, especially if you slot him on the right side of Domi. As far as Beaulieu is concerned, he didn't make the first time around in MTL remember. He couldn't crack the lineup in Buffalo and he's only playing in WPG because Morrissey is injured.

Vegas For the Cup
I like the lineup but would make the following tweaks; Nosek in for Pirri, Bellemare to LW on 4th line and Carpenter in at C on 4th line. That leaves Pirri, Carrier, Zykov out. FYI, Schuldt is ineligible to play in playoffs because he was not sign prior to trade deadline. It's due to his age and undrafted status, reason why Vegas could only sign him to one year ELC.
And I agree with your call for Tampa-Vegas finals!

I may have misread the news feed on TSN but because of age, he's not eligible to play in the playoffs this year. Needed to be signed prior to trade deadline to play in playoffs. Vegas could only sign him for one year at the max ELC. He'll play the final two games and that's it. And if I'm not mistaken, he can't go to Chicago of AHL to play there either. But like it was mentioned here already, Vegas most definitely has a deal in place for July 1.

STOP TRADING DROUIN
It's not a question of just points. It's a question of effort and desire to be part of the team and system. He also doesn't understand how to play defense and constantly turns the puck over. Those things are not related to who is playing with but rather a conscious decision to not work hard. Great players will always give an effort whether or not they're producing, they find other ways to be involved. Julien rewards guys that follow the game plan, give an honest effort and that he can trust in important situation (defensive zone faceoff, protecting the lead late in games, etc). Right now, Drouin is not doing that and has not earned the trust of Julien for more ice time. I realize he's still 23 and has loads of talent but if you let him take shortcuts now, he'll never be a true star. This is the exact scenario that occurred in Ottawa in the early 2000's between Spezza and Jacques Martin. Jacques was trying to get Spezza to play a 200 foot game and be responsible at both ends of the ice, knowing that when he had an opportunity on offense, he's talent would take over. But here we are 15 yrs later and Spezza never learned to play both ends and has become a one dimensional player who's about the retire because no one is going to sign him in the summer.

The only trade Id do involving Drouin
I don't disagree with MTL fans not wanting to trade Drouin, and those fans have various reasons for wanting him to stay. What I do disagree with is your statement about Drouin being a ppg player if Julien would stop treating him like **** as you say. Julien is the right coach for this team at this moment and for this market. What Drouin doesn't seem to understand is work ethic (he has none), team first mentality (see short lived time in Tampa) and that in order to create offense and put up points (in any league) you actually have to hold to the puck for more than 3 seconds. Drouin is a turnover king with is fancy failed toe drags every f"in time he enters the offensive zone. In the 9 1/2 minutes in played last night, I noticed four giveaways. MTL plays a five man unit type of game where speed and puck pressure are paramount. Drouin has the speed no doubt but is unfortunately one of the laziest players I've ever seen. And finally, a change in scenery will eventually help him because he clearly doesn't enjoy being in La Belle Province!!!! Just sayin….

I don't disagree with your statement however no getting anything for Duchene when he walks out the door in July is even worst then getting trash. Sens desperately need a first round pick this year. And if they can get a second 1st rd rick when trading Dzingel, that would lessen the sting of having Colorado in the lottery.
Just my two cents but I don't know anything about hockey.

Replace Hamilton with Justin Faulk. Does that make it better for the room chemistry? The thought with Dougie is that Julien had him in Boston for 3 years. Probably knows him better than us.

I prefer Reilly's size to Mete. I think they try Reilly first knowing what Mete can do. Reilly surprised me after the trade and showed he can skate and make the first pass out of the zone. Mete would be better off with Petry to start the year IMO.

2018/19 Habs
<div class="quote"><div class="quote_t">Quoting: <b>lavsim96</b></div><div>Why ya'll want RNH? can somebody explain to me what's the hype around him? Not even a 50 point man and not known for his good defensive play to make up for it, at 6m per year that's overpaid. No idea why Habs fans want him</div></div>
Not really hype for me. Simple fact is that's the best Habs can get without shipping everybody out of town. Guys like Getzlaf, Malkin, Barkov, Giroux, Kopitar, etc... will never be available to MTL without giving away the family jewels as they say. No sense giving everything away to get that type of player but then have nothing to surround him with. It's called being realistic, unlike some of the scenarios I've seen on this site. And Tavares ain't coming either...
But to answer your questions: 1) a natural center - something MTL does not have currently. 2) RNH has more 50 point season than Chucky (3 to 2) and Chucky's both came in years Habs were out of playoffs. 3) RNH played quite well in 2017 playoffs as 3 line center, showing his capable of playing in his zone and being reliable defensively..Chucky doesn't even know what end of the ice is his defensive zone. 4) 6M/year is actually reasonable in today's NHL for a 50 + pts guy. And I think he would get closer to 65-70 pts playing with Drouin. Chucky will want 7M + per year on his next deal and his production is not likely to increase dramatically. 5) see point #1...
